Wonderful to see a more 'adult couple' as the main pair are both 40+ but that makes their relationship even more awesome. I have no real problem with ppl in their thirties falling in love, but I really like how chill these characters can be bc of the age of the actors (and the story they're telling) - this is an arranged married turned love marriege - they know they have to make a choice to love the other, and they do! Also, thy are becoming such badasses, it's great to see they bring that out in each other (+ the unfortunate politicking around them, but the partner definitely helps the other make the needed personality development). Ugh Lord Anpin, just...no. That is what you've read about in books but it's not cute, now cut it out. At least Hulan Zhen is a bit off to begin with, so with him, you're like, weeeeel, he migh as well. Frankly he is more compelling at this 'obsession by the name of love' thing, dear.

Just lovely. The ML is a rare treat - intelligent, somewhat reserved but not really cold, respectful of the FL's skill and person, gentle tone, doesn't flaunt his authority unless needed, but not then not afraid to, guided by strong sense of morality and duty to the people...*chef'skiss* lso has great friends! I liked all of the main friend group! The girl could have been annoyingly naive but it's never far into that territory, she seems more earnest and inexperienced than anything, but it's not ridiculed, and I really appreciate that. also, they invented crime scene recreation :P
