The “Nurse Jackie” sequel series is now in development at Amazon Prime Video with original star Edie Falco set to return, Variety has learned exclusively.
It was first reported in 2023 that a “Nurse Jackie” followup was in the works at Showtime from Lionsgate Television, but the project has now moved to Amazon.
The official logline states, “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet in spite of having lost her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas in trying to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”
Liz Flahive and Abe Sylvia serve as writers and executive producers on the sequel series, with both having worked as producers and writers on the original series. Sylvia is also attached to direct.

Co-director and star Peter Facinelli must rescue his family trapped by a wildfire, but while he digs deep to save them the film dodges the really big question raised here
It is a truth almost universally acknowledged that eco-thrillers are films that preach to the converted. So, fair dos to this environmental drama for also preaching to another cohort of the converted: Christians. The script shoehorns in a few prayer scenes to appeal to viewers of faith – though cynics might think it is a shameless attempt to cover all audience bases. The story follows a family caught up in a wildfire raging out of control in California, shot in a throwback style to vintage disaster movies of the 80s – though clearly on a tight budget that really shows in some cheap smoke-machine effects.
Dave (played by co-director Peter Facinelli) is a builder who lives with his eight-months-pregnant wife Sarah (Fiona Dourif...

Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster Twilight franchise is heading to the small screen, and here are the details.
There was a time in the early 2010s when Twilight was just about the biggest film franchise around.
It comprises five films – 2008’s Twilight, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, 2009’s New Moon, directed by Chris Weitz, 2010’s Eclipse, directed by David Slade, and the two part finale Breaking Dawn, directed by Bill Condon and released in 2011 and 2012. Their success was such that two parody films were also released in quick succession, the much maligned Vampire’s Suck and Breaking Wind.
The films followed Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan as she becomes romantically involved with vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, and werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner. Which all leads to a battle with vampire coven The Volturi.
Adapted by future Jessica Jones creator Melissa Rosenberg, the large ensemble cast also included Billy Burke,...

Awards season kicks into overdrive on the first weekend of the year with the return of the Golden Globes. The 81st telecast has a new broadcast partner (CBS), a new host (Jo Koy), new catering (Nobu) and a new social calendar accompanying it. For years, the Golden Globes were followed by a crush of studio and network bashes inside the show’s headquarters at the Beverly Hilton, making it a favorite of countless party-hopping revelers. But pandemic era cutbacks and studio consolidation upended the festivities — gone is the Warner Bros. and InStyle soiree while HBO scaled back under new corporate parent Warner Bros. Discovery and will be hosting something on Emmy weekend — though all is not lost. This year’s parties are spread across the weekend and at various venues across the city.

When filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke got the first draft of Twilight, she knew there was a problem. The script depicted Bella as a superstar athlete and ended with her in a chase with the FBI (on jet skis). “It had just gone out of control,” says Hardwicke. “I’m like, ‘No, no, no, that’s not what the book’s about. It’s about this incredible, impossible love and this yearning.”
Hardwicke wanted to ditch the script and get closer to the book by author Stephenie Meyer. Those instincts proved right. Fifteen years ago, on Nov. 21, 2008, Twilight became a surprise hit for low-key studio Summit Entertainment, grossing $408.4 million worldwide and instantly turning stars Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) and Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) into global stars. It would spawn four sequels, with a TV reboot on the way.

Wildfires are a far too common occurrence, destroying property and taking lives in the U.S. and abroad, and Peter Facinelli hopes his latest film On Fire will put a more personal spin on the disasters so viewers start thinking about how they could be mitigated.
“It’s meant to be a white knuckling kind of ride that gives you hope and, in the end, also celebrates the heroes that are putting their lives on the line all the time,” Facinelli tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding that he hopes the film raises awareness about the increasing frequency of deadly wildfires, like the one that devastated Lahaina in August. “October is Fire Prevention Month, and there are ways to protect your home, but these fires just keep happening and it’s time to think about what we could do about it.”

A really wet Friday in New York – National Weather Service flash flood warning wet – is likely to take a bite out of specialty film in one of its biggest markets this weekend. Alamo Drafthouse shut its NYC locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island until further notice due to “severe flooding in and around the area,” saying “Please everyone stay dry & stay safe, and we hope to have you back at the movies very soon.” Subways are jammed up and the water makes it hard to get around.

In November 2018, the seventh deadliest wildfire in US history ripped through California and destroyed the entire town of Paradise, along with numerous other homes. A combination of wind changes and unexpected behaviour on the part of the fire meant that evacuations happened only at the last minute and many people who had thought themselves safe abruptly faced danger. Given the location of this event, it embedded itself deep in the psyche of many in he state’s filmmaking community. Five years later, Peter Facinelli and Nick Lyon’s film attempts to capture something of the experience of those directly involved.
Facinelli plays Dave, a construction company owner who lives in a comfortable woodland trailer home with his father George (Lance Henriksen), teenage son Clay (Asher Angel) and wife Sarah (Fiona Dourif), who is eight months pregnant. Dispatches From The Picket Lines: Scribes Celebrate New Deal While Showing Solidarity With SAG-AFTRA
This is Day 76 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The morning after the WGA strike was called to an end, the SAG-AFTRA picket lines thinned out at Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney, with significantly fewer stars, however, a handful of scribes continued to turnout for their thespian brethren.
Elated about the WGA strike’s end, For All Mankind writer Bradley Thompson, beamed at the Disney gates, “About freakin’ time!”
With a new scribe deal that contains big leaps in AI guardrails, residuals and data transparency for writers, Station 19 and Cruel Summer co-ep Anupam Nigham told Deadline, “It feels good that we got them to come up from $86M to $233M [annually] over three years.”
With movement made on the writers room minimum staffing front, the new deal will see that by Dec. 1, development rooms, otherwise known as pre-greenlight rooms, and regular writers rooms for television and Hbsvod series will have requirements regarding the...

Interim agreements, which are signed by producers to allow SAG-AFTRA members to participate in the production and publicity of projects during the work stoppage that began July 14, have caused much confusion and concern.
Some actors have voiced their support for interim agreements, like Adam Driver who was at the Venice Film Festival for the interim agreement project Ferrari, while others have chosen to abstain from publicity despite starring in projects that have signed agreements. Amanda Seyfried said she would not attend the premiere of Atom Egoyan’s TIFF drama Seven Veils, which has an interim agreement, writing on social media that it “doesn’t feel right to head to the fest in light of the strike.”
Common concerns voiced about the interim agreements range from worry about creating content that can be acquired by AMPTP companies, as well as worries over the slow pace at which the agreements are being vetted.

"This is no joke..." "Best thing to do is fireproof the house." But that won't work either, of course! Cineverse has revealed an official trailer for a survival thriller titled On Fire, arriving in theaters to watch at the end of September. The film initially premiered at the 2023 Mammoth Film Festival earlier this year, and it's co-directed by Nick Lyon with the actor / director Peter Facinelli. This is a chilling premise because it's actually happening in real life to so many people - from Hawaii and Greece, and many many other places around the world. And yes it's due to climate change and negligence, and we need to do more. Based on real events, On Fire follows a family who lives in a trailer home in the woods when they are suddenly confronted by a wildfire. Survival becomes their main objective. With precious moments ticking by, Dave must flee with...

As we all mourn the end of the Halloween season and brace ourselves for the seemingly unending parade of holidays based on familial obligations or gross displays of capitalism, November is here to serve as a little respite. Many of the horror movies that disappeared off streaming platforms to try and snag some extra Halloween funds in October are returning to their respective platforms, but the trickling in of cheesy Christmas fare is also coming in fast.
Fortunately, there's a massive amount of old favorites and exciting new titles trying to beat the holiday havoc, and we've got five between Hulu and Disney+ that you would be wise to check out. Action? Teen movies? Horror comedies? Musicals? Weirdly bleak arthouse film with surprising brutality? November has it all, baby.
