Aria's secret is revealed, the police close in on the liars and one liar says, "I do," in this episode of Pretty Little Liars. The liar bond is tested in a way it's never been before in "Choose or Lose" when the liars realize that one in their midst has been playing for the other side.
Director Norman Buckley has helmed almost more episodes than any other director on Pretty Little Liars, and he certainly gets an action-packed and emotional episode as his final outing. The scenes between the liars, and especially the scenes with Tanner, really crackle with a special kind of energy. Watching the camera as Aria skulks around in this episode is so fun, and that last shot of Mona's little smile is so much of what's great about this show.

The last ever episode of Pretty Little Liars is quickly approaching, and while fans will miss spending time with their favorite characters, the cast and crew of the show will miss it even more. Director Norman Buckley has directed 23 episodes of the show, more than a whole season's worth of episodes, and he's seen the liars through many Omg moments.

From the looks of the 15+ photos and three videos revealed before tonight’s episode of Dead of Summer, titled “How to Stay Alive in the Woods”, the gang splits up and heads off into the forest in a continued effort to find answers to all of the unusual things going on at Camp Stillwater. To further complicate things, the Tall Man (Tony Todd) is back and nothing good happens when he is around.
Episode 105 – “How to Stay Alive in the Woods”: “Deb and the counselors take the campers on an overnight camping trip deep into the woods for an unforgettable experience. As everyone is pitching tents and trying to find the perfect marshmallow roasting stick, Joel grows uneasy about what is happening at Camp Stillwater. Meanwhile, flashbacks feature Joel.”
Directed by Norman Buckley from a script by Erin Maher and Kay Reindl, “How to Stay Alive in the Woods” airs tonight at 9:00 p.

CW has big plans for the holiday season as usual. They just released a brand new line up for the week starting of December 8th. It will feature some of their regular shows, but also special holiday themed items to keep up with the times. Unlike their peers, CW usually keeps their list pretty close until less than a month of airing the shows. Here is the official lineup that they have released so far.

Pretty Little Liars reaches its hundredth episode, but has it lost the plot along the way? Here's Caroline's review...

This review contains spoilers.
5.5 Miss Me X 100
When a show reaches 100 episodes, it’s hard not to get nostalgic and look back at the episodes that led here, the state of characters and relationships now rather than five seasons ago and where, potentially, the series can go from here. The hundredth episode of Pretty Little Liars makes a lot of that hard to do, basically because we know there are still 70-odd episodes to come, but also because it’s meandered so much that it’s almost impossible to recognise what it is anymore.
Is it about the ubiquitous monsters under the beds of young women, as Spencer and Alison mused last week, or about the rise of cyber bullying in American high schools? Is it a camp soap opera...

"Ravenswood" is ending the first half of Season 1 Tuesday night (Nov. 19) with "Scared to Death." Star Brett Dier teases for Zap2it that they shot at a haunted house and that he wishes he could be part of a flashback.
"The place where we're shooting in was actually pretty spooky. It was a mansion and I don't think anybody lived there for a long time. ... I wandered around in the house by myself and I was really scared," says Dier. "It kind of looks like the 'Addams Family,' that mansion. We shoot in there a lot. There's a lot of action [there] in episode 5."
Norman Buckley, who directed the episode, posted this photo (right) to Tumblr along with the caption, "Be careful where you go." Perhaps that is a clue to what Dier is talking about?
But anyway, part of the action in episode 5 stems from the "Scooby Gang," as Tyler Blackburn calls them,...

Sneak Peek new images and synopsis from the "Pretty Little Liars" Season 4 summer finale episode "Now You See Me, Now You Don't", written by I. Marlene King, Bryan Holdman and directed by Norman Buckley, airing August 27, 2013 on ABC Family:
"...an intriguing riddle from 'A' has the 'Liars' hitting the road and heading to 'Ravenswood', where they are surrounded by some familiar faces.
"During a very special magic show, one Liar pulls a disappearing act, leaving the other three scrambling to make sure she hasn’t succumbed to A’s tricks.
"But before they can leave Ravenswood, they make a shocking discovery that proves that everything they thought they knew about A and the A team might be wrong.
"With this discovery, the Liars may just have started 'World War A'.
"Meanwhile, 'Hanna' and her mother’s joyous reunion is cut short when A’s sights are set on a new target.

Just when you think we've put Rosewood's creepy mask situation to bed for a little while, ABC Family releases sneak peeks and promo photos from next week's Pretty Little Liars. We know Paige McCullers is definitely in next week's episode, but we haven't seen her glorious face yet. (Well, except for in the Twitter pictures Norman Buckley and Joseph Dougherty tweeted from set when they were filming.) But here's what we do know:
Kung Fu Jake knows Aria isn't over and Ezra and will never be over Ezra and is Ezra, Ezra, Ezra for the rest of time amen — because I guess Kung Fu Jake has seen the first three seasons of this show.
And in the next sneak peek, we get our first look at Roma Maffia as one of the special detectives who have come to town to investigate Wilden's murder. Here's hoping...

Here at Ology, we love to get inside the heads of our favorite actors and figure out just what went into making our favorite moments of our favorite shows. It's a game we like to play called Three Scenes, where the people behind the characters explain--in their own words--the story behind some of their biggest moments on the show. Here, The Wire star Jamie Hector recalls some of the most memorable scenes he had playing Marlo Stanfield from 2004 to 2008.

While the actors who portray our favorite characters get the majority of fan adoration, more and more, writers and show runners are rightfully getting their place in the spotlight. Sure, Ali Liebert brings Betty’s swagger on Bomb Girls, but writers dream up the lines that cut through us like a warm knife through maple butter. Paige McCullers would be just a footnote — a field hockey penalty — if Pretty Little Liars’ show runner hadn’t seen her potential and gone with her gut. So here’s to the writers who inspire us, and the women and men who run the show. (Thank you to all of you who tweeted me your favorites.)

Details have been flying online about the first four episodes of "Pretty Little Liars" Season 4. Let's take a look at what we know so far.
The above photo is the first official picture released, via TV Guide. It shows new character Detective Holbrook, who works for the Pennsylvania State Police. Actor Sean Faris tells TV Guide that Holbrook and partner Linda Tanner are in Rosewood "to investigate some of the mysteries that seem to elude the local police."
Speaking of Det. Tanner, Roma Maffia has been cast in that role and below is a picture director Norman Buckley tweeted from the Pll set.

What else do we know? Well, Buckley has also tweeted the below picture of Steve Talley, which means Ella's love interest Zack is back.
Buckley adds on Twitter, "We're doing a scene this morning on #Pll inspired by #DialMForMurder on the very soundstage where #DialMForMurder was shot.

Even when Pretty Little Liars is on hiatus, we don't have to wait around for news about the new season. The Pll cast/crew dominates all social media everywhere, so right now, for example, we know that filming is underway for episodes 403 and 404 — "Cats Cradle" and "Face Time" — and that there's plenty of Paige and Emily deliciousness in those episodes. (We also know that the dynamic duo of Norman Buckley and Joesph Dougherty are directing and writing them, respectively.)

It's been difficult for plenty of our actors to single our their favorite behind-the-scenes moments on their respective shows, but what happens when you're one of the hottest TV directors in Hollywood? We asked Norman Buckley--who's directed for Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and The O.C., among many, many others--to play Three Scenes with us, and in his own words below, he explains the many joys of creating television magic by going off-script.

Directed by Norman Buckley

First off the question on everyone’s mind, was that a clarinet? If so, what else was on that tape? Second question what kind of name is Kick? Carrie, your sister’s name is Dorrit. Not to worry though because this episode was chock full of the endearing teenage escapades and suburban sweetness (sweet compared to the drug introduced date rape, suicide attempt from last week) that shined through in the pilot. “Dangerous Territory” as some (all) may have guessed was about venturing into new realms both big and small. In Carrie’s case she meets a new guy, who introduces her to the upper echelons of Manhattan society. Mouse fires up the Vcr to heat things up...

Director Norman Buckley had been inhabiting the Upper East Side for the last six years, helming episodes of The CW's Gossip Girl since its first season. He was behind the camera when Nate mistook Jenny for Serena, when Blair and Serena had a tearful tarmac reunion, and when Dan and Serena broke up...the first time. Now with the airing of "Where the Vile Things Are", Buckley has officially left Gossip Girl's world of schemes and scandals behind.
BuddyTV was lucky enough to speak exclusively with Buckley through email about "Where the Vile Things Are", the Dan and Serena reunion, saying goodbye, and his favorite episodes. Most importantly he answers the question everyone is wondering: who would win in a fight, Gossip Girl or 'A' from Pretty Little Liars? (Ok, maybe I'm the only one wondering about that.)

Growing up my staple television shows all came from the Nickelodeon Network. There were comedies such as All That, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Clarissa Explains It All, and so on. Nickelodeon seemed to be the voice of teens everywhere with quirky characters, fashion trends, catchy phrases and relatable story-lines that you wanted to model yourself after. It seems that tides have turned with the incredible breakout and phenomenal force of ABC Family which has become seemingly the voice of the new teen generation. With titillating and edgy programs like Pretty Little Liars, Bunheads, Baby Daddy, Switched At Birth, and The Lying Game, drama, humor, friendship, and family are all concepts and keywords that have taken center stage for teens and they can't seem to get enough of living for the thrills with ABC Family.
Everyone has their special TV nights, nights for "must-see TV," and growing up with Nickelodeon that was Saturday night.

Norman Buckley at Static Mass Emporium says something that many of us have been thinking these days: television is better and more satisfying than movies at the moment. I’ve just finished watching the season finale of Mad Men. It was an enormously satisfying episode of television because the patient, deliberate development of the story, throughout the season, paid off in wonderful ways. Why aren’t movies this good anymore? ... Are films of the last thirty years less well-made on some level (not technically necessarily, but well-crafted as a whole?), redundant, lacking in cohesion, playing to the lowest common denominator, afraid to tackle ideas? I’m not sure, but I know the days of feeling that I might see a masterpiece when I go to the movie theater are few and far between. Even when I think there might be a great film looming, I’m usually disappointed. ... When we...

If you spent last week looking for my Pretty Little Liars recap, I'll bet you felt confused and betrayed, huh? All those clues led you to believe it'd be here shortly, but it never showed up. I wanted you to know what it feels like to be an Emily Fields in real life, is all. Just kidding! I had some medical complications last week that kept me in a Vicodin coma for nearly six full days. I'm sorry I didn't get around to recapping "Remains of the 'A.'" Not only because I missed your commentary, but also because it was a Norman Buckley-directed episode, which means it was gorgeous, and I like to talk about that. But I did make a photo recap of the episode so we can get caught up together.

Pll director du jour Norman Buckley snapped this shot of Ashley, Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario and Shay Mitchell as they filmed scenes for episode two, titled Blood is the New Black.
Although season three details are being kept tightly under wraps, creator Marlene King has revealed that a "healthy amount of time" will have passed by the time we return to Rosewood (June 5 on ABC Family). "The [episode's pre-credits] teaser is a two-month jump to the last day of school, and then we jump again to Labor Day weekend, the two-year anniversary of Alison's death."

Now happy with the results, ABC Family has officially picked up Strut. The show comes from Lamar Damon (Glam God with Vivica A. Fox), who penned the spec, with Buckley and Mastro. We guess you can't stay at juvie camp forever.
"Pretty Little Liars" is welcoming Bianca Lawson back to Rosewood after she left the show in Season 1 when her character Maya was sent to juvie camp.
Lawson will make her triumphant return in episode 11, which is being directed by Norman Buckley. Buckley posted a picture of Lawson on his Twitter account with the caption: "Back in Rosewood."
We're guessing Emily (Shay Mitchell) will be in a full-blown love triangle when Maya returns as she's been spending a lot of Qt (quality time, duh) with Samara since Maya left town. We're curious to see how (or if) juvie camp changes Maya and how she'll interact with Emily after being away (and silent) for so long.
Are you excited Lawson is returning to the "Pll" mix, Zappers? Would you like to see Maya and Emily back together?...

This season's Jason might have a new head, but sure looks like the same pecs!
When I saw that Pretty Little Liars got straight-up snubbed by this year’s Teen Choice Awards, I rolled my eyes and laughed because of course it did. It’s the perfect irony. This show is a lot of things, and one of the sliest is a biting commentary on all the ways society tries to control female sexuality — especially teenagers’ — and convince girls they’re powerless.
Why do we celebrate a show like Lost, with its heightened reality and surreal, long form mysteries, but scoff at a show like Pretty Little Liars? I’ll tell you why: Because the loudest thing we say to teenage girls is “You’re not worth hearing because you’re so silly!” The Liars rub up against that noise every single week. Lost gets to tag itself “critically acclaimed,...
