“Julia’s Eyes” helmer Guillem Morales is readying 1980s-set psychological thriller “Brother,” with WestEnd Films set to launch sales at the Cannes virtual market later this month.
Morales, one of Spain’s top genre auteurs, is best known for 2010 Spanish horror “Julia’s Eyes” (pictured), which was produced by Guillermo del Toro. The director recently won a BAFTA for his work on the hit BBC dark comedy anthology series “Inside No. 9.”
“Brother” is set in the early 1980s and located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The pic turns on the depraved Morrow family, which lives off the beaten path and preys on young women whom they kidnap from the side of the highway. There’s unrest within the family, however, as their 19-year-old son Michael Morrow tries to break free from their clutches and escape his past.

“The Other Side of the Wind,” Orson Welles’ final unfinished film, is finally approaching completion. According to Welles fan site Wellesnet, a cut of the film screened for a select group of Hollywood elite Tuesday in Santa Monica, 42 years after principal photography finished. An attendee at the screening described it as more than a rough cut, but not a final product. Filmmakers in attendance at the screening included Paul Thomas Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Peter Bogdanovich, and Rian Johnson.
Last year, Netflix announced it was acquiring the movie and funding its completion, which has been overseen by producers Frank Marshall and Filip Jan Rymsza. Bogdanovich, who was charged by Welles with finishing the film in the event of his death, is an executive producer.

Sonar Entertainment has optioned Tim Dorsey's Serge Storms novels to be developed into a TV series titled "Florida Roadkill". Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard ("Betas," "The Shannara Chronicles") will pen the adaptation and executive produce.
The darkly comic crime drama follows a charismatic criminal named Serge Storms who suffers a range of mental illnesses that render him compulsive, paranoid and frequently homicidal.
A strong sense of justice and rigid moral compass make him an antidote to Tampa, Florida's ethically-challenged crooks, miscreants and coked-up kingpins.
Jennifer Eatz, Danny Davids and Neil Canton are also onboard as executive producers.

It's been said that 1984 was a vintage year for movies, and looking back, it's easy to see why. The likes of Ghostbusters and Gremlins served up comedy, action and the macabre in equal measure. James Cameron's The Terminator cemented Arnold Schwarzenegger's star status and gave us one of the greatest sci-fi action movies of the decade.
This was also the year where the Coen brothers made their screen debut with the stunning thriller Blood Simple, and when the Zucker brothers followed up Airplane! with the equally hilarious Top Secret! Most film buffs know that Eric Stoltz was the original Marty McFly in Back to the Future before director Robert Zemeckis made the difficult decision to replace him with Michael J Fox.
Stoltz had already shot for five weeks as Marty when he was let go from the production, and now a new behind-the-scenes book - We Don't Need Roads: The Making of the Back to the Future Trilogy by Caseen Gaines - has shed fresh light on the dismissal.
According to accounts from cast and crew on the movie, Stoltz approached Marty in a "method" acting style and lacked the comedic lightness of touch Zemeckis and his co-writer/co-producer Bob Gale wanted for the part.
In We Don't Need Roads (via Vulture), Gale recalled how Stoltz insisted on being referred to as "Marty" even when cameras stopped rolling.

Chicago – As more and more homes become HD-enabled, the Blu-ray market has finally started to expand to the point that it’s getting difficult to narrow a list of the best releases down to only ten. But that’s what we’re here for — to do the difficult jobs. These are the ten best Blu-rays of 2010.
The most notable trend in Blu-ray in 2010 was the treatment of classic films and television. Several major studios found new ways to pull classic gems from the vault, put them in new HD settings, and remind people why they fell in love with them in the first place. The Criterion Collection continued to lead the way when it came to classics, but Warner Bros. and Universal deserve some praise (and earned a few spots on the list below).

The Back To The Future trilogy is my favorite trilogy in all of cinema history. Each film works on multiple levels and really reward repeat viewings. The collaboration of talent is a monumental feat and it’s a rare thing to see in Hollywood.
For the 25th Anniversary, the films have been digitally restored for “perfect picture” and the “purest digital sound available,” according to Universal. I was not fortunate enough to see the first film theatrically, but I can wager a guess that the Blu-ray versions look better than the films did in their original theatrical runs.
The Blu-ray release features new interviews with the cast and crew, as well as new documentaries giving you further insight into how difficult it was to make the classic series. Chicago – It’s rare to see a series of films and its fans treated as incredibly as Universal has with the 25th Anniversary edition of the “Back to the Future” trilogy. This is one of the most remarkable and impressive Blu-ray releases to date: A box set that not only features pristinely-restored versions of the three films but includes hours of spectacular special features. It’s a must-own and arguably the best release in a very good season for Blu-ray collectors.
Blu-Ray Rating: 5.0/5.0
You can count the mid-’80s films that have held up as well as “Back to the Future” on one hand. It’s one of those timeless comedies that clicked together not unlike a mad scientist trying to time a lightning strike. Everyone involved, especially Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Robert Zemeckis, was operating on all cylinders to produce one the most entertaining works of its era.

In addition to looking incredible on 1080p high definition, the set comes loaded with special features making it well-worth the price. October 26 is an important historical date for many reasons. In 1985, on that date, the time-space continuum was permanently altered by its first successful temporal displacement, when a re-modified DeLorean left the Twin Pines Mall in Hill Valley, California, and rocketed backwards in time to 1955. In 1985, on that date, the time-space continuum was permanently altered by its first successful temporal displacement, when a re-modified DeLorean left the Twin Pines Mall in Hill Valley, California, and rocketed backwards in time to 1955. In 2010, on that date, the blockbuster 'Back to the Future' celebrated its 25th anniversary with the release of the complete trilogy on Blu-ray, for the first time ever. (Read more about the Blu-ray here.)
To celebrate the film milestone, we were lucky enough to take part in a reunion press conference featuring: writer-director Robert Zemeckis, co-writer Bob Gale, producer Neil Canton, "Power of Love" rocker Huey Lewis, "Lorraine McFly" Lea Thompson, "Clara Clayton" Mary Steenburgen, "Doc Brown" Christoper Lloyd and "Marty McFly" himself, Michael J. Fox. For a generation of fans who grew up devouring the...

Hell yeah! The Back to the Future trilogy is finally coming to Blu-Ray and here's the trailer for the must own 25th Anniversary Special edition Blu-ray! The discs will be available for purchase on October 26th 2010.
According to Writer/Producer Bob Gale this Blu-ray collection was well worth the wait:
The HD transfers for all three films are simply breath-taking…They actually look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.)
Check out the trailer below as well as the full specs of what will be available on the discs. I can't wait to watch this movie on Blu-ray! It will be like watching it for the first time.

Not completely unexpectedly Universal have chosen to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the seminal 80s movie Back to the Future by releasing a Blu-ray trilogy box set.
Now, we’re already sold on this. These films hold up very well today and the first film in particular benefits from one of the tightest screenplays ever, and the chance to see the trials and time travel tribulations of Marty McFly in 21st century high definition is too good to pass up.
Although don’t be too surprised in five year’s time if we don’t see a hologram version of the trilogy, just like that Jaws 19 advert…
Here’s what Coming Soon said will be coming to the discs…
Bonus Features Exclusive To Blu-ray™:
* U-control: Universal’s exclusive signature feature allows viewers to learn more about their favorite film without ever leaving the movie.

On October 26, 2010 Universal Studios Home Entertainment will drop a Blu-ray collection of the Back to the Future trilogy featuring two hours of never-before-seen material.
In the summer of 1985 the first Back to the Future film hit theaters and became an instant hit, eventually going on to be that year's highest-grossing film. Part II and Part III followed in 1989 and 1990, with both sequels shot at the same time but released six months apart. The Back to the Future trilogy has grossed $936 million dollars worldwide and still continues to be remembered by its fans 25 years after Marty McFly first stepped into Doc Brown's time travelling DeLorean.
For the Blu-ray release more than two hours of all new bonus features have been added, including an all-new, six-part retrospective documentary featuring never-before-seen interviews with the cast, crew and filmmakers, including Michael J. Fox, for the definitive Back to the Future experience.

On July 3, 1985, history was made. Or, more accurately, re-made. The potent combination of a mad scientist, a lovable loser and angry Libyan terrorists delivered one of the most memorable films of the '80s: "Back to the Future." This Saturday's July 3 happens to be the 25th anniversary of the film's release. To celebrate, NBC Universal has finally announced the hi def treatment that fans have been waiting for: the "Back to the Future" trilogy will arrive on Blu-ray and in an all-new special edition DVD on October 26, 2010.
There are a bunch of awesome new extras to look forward to. Exclusive to the Blu-ray is a half-hour vintage behind-the-scenes special hosted by Leslie Nielson which aired before the first TV screening of the initial movie. There's also the obligatory "newly filmed" retrospective documentary, vintage extras from previous releases, deleted scenes, feature commentaries, a hoverboard test and -- let's face it, the...

NEW YORK -- Relativity Media has acquired franchise rights to Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams' teen adventure novel series Tunnels for producers Ryan Kavanaugh and Mark Canton, with plans to finance, develop and produce a series of feature films.
The books center on London teen Will Burrows, who shares a love for digging tunnels with his father. When his dad disappears down a hole in the first novel -- set for publication this summer in the U.K. and in January in the U.S. from Chicken House/Scholastic -- Will heads underground with his friend Chester and discovers a spooky and potentially deadly secret.
Relativity's Kavanaugh, Canton and executive producers Danny Davids and Neil Canton hope to mine several hit films from the author's debut novels and replicate the success of the Harry Potter series. First-time authors Gordon and Williams have already completed a second Tunnels book and are now working on a third. The first book has more than $1 million in advance sales and prepublication rights in more than 21 languages.
