The Harvey Weinstein survivors who experienced sexual misconduct and harassment by the now-convicted rapist have been awarded a $18.875 million settlement, as part of a class-action lawsuit, aided by the New York Attorney General.
The payments, which still await approval by the bankruptcy and district courts, will resolve two separate lawsuits — one against Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and The Weinstein Company, which was filed in Feb. 2018 by the office of the Attorney General, and a separate Nov. 2017 class action lawsuit brought on behalf of the group of women who were sexually harassed and assaulted by the former movie mogul.
The settlement comes as Weinstein is serving his 23-year sentence in a New York prison, three months after he was sentenced and found guilty by a jury for the sexual assault of Miriam Haley, a former “Project Runway” production assistant, and rape in the third degree of former actress, Jessica Mann.

After decades of being joined at the big-screen hip, Harvey Weinstein and his brother and longtime business partner Bob Weinstein split in late 2017 as accusations of sexual assault and harassment piled up against Harvey Weinstein.
However, the brothers were still linked in the courts. But that state of affairs for the Weinsteins, as well as several executives at their now-shuttered company and Disney, changed today.
In a ruing (read it here) on Harvey Weinstein’s unsuccessful attempt to have a nearly year and a half sex-trafficking class action suit dismissed, a federal judge in New York cut Bob Weinstein loose today. After the much-accused Harvey Weinstein scored a win earlier this month when the Manhattan District Attorney dropped one of the charges against him in a criminal case that could find him behind bars for life, things potentially went to a very bad place for the once-powerful producer today.
An amended class-action complaint filed in federal court Wednesday alleges Weinstein tried to rape a 16-year old virgin model in 2002 and continued harassing her for many years afterward in both New York and Los Angeles.
Weinstein “lured” the Poland-born teen “to his apartment and sexually assaulted her, and he continued to emotionally abuse and sexually harass her for nearly a decade thereafter,” the jury trial-seeking and disturbingly detailed filing states among the consolidated claims of 10 women in total (read it here).

Director Barry Avrich adds to the conversation of #MeToo and Time’s Up with the forthcoming documentary The Reckoning: Hollywood’s Worst Kept Secret…and that secret is not that much of a secret anymore.
Featuring interviews with Melissa Sagemiller, Lauren Sivan, Dylan Farrow, and others, Avrich explores sexual misconduct in Hollywood, the abuse of power, and how some of the industry’s biggest names — mainly Harvey Weinstein — came toppling down after the floodgates opened with numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.

While awaiting the start of his rape trial in New York, on Friday Harvey Weinstein was served with his third class-action lawsuit from a group of his alleged victims. Three plaintiffs filed the new complaint — obtained by Variety — in Manhattan’s Southern District, citing three incidents that occurred in as many countries, between 1996 and 2011. Charges including assault, civil battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent supervision were filed against not only Weinstein, but also his brother and former business partner Bob Weinstein; their first studio, Miramax; Miramax’s first buyer, The Walt Disney Company; and board members from the brothers’ The Weinstein Company.

The Weinstein Company went into a Delaware bankruptcy court Tuesday for what they hoped was a swift formality — a sales hearing to uphold Lantern Capital Partners’ planned purchase of its studio and 277-film library — and got its wish. Dallas private equity firm Lantern Capital was the lone party to vie for TWC ahead of its April 30 bidding deadline, nullifying the need for an auction between prospective owners. Lantern’s offer was worth $425 million ($310 million cash and assuming $115 million in liabilities).
As TWC attorney Karin DeMasi revealed on May 7, “To the best of Debtors’ knowledge, no senior management is or will be involved with the post-closing enterprise,” meaning Bob Weinstein appears to be exiting the 13-year-old studio. It is unknown whether company headquarters will remain in Manhattan.

The Weinstein Co. sale is not settled yet, as a second buyer submitted a late bid for the company on Tuesday.
A source told Variety that the bidder is Howard Kagan, a former partner at Harbinger Capital who has produced a number of Broadway shows. Kagan’s $315 million bid would keep the company as a going concern, and would include a $30 million fund for victims of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual abuses.
Lantern Capital, the Dallas-based private equity firm, was the only bidder to submit a bid for the whole company before the 5 p.m. deadline on Monday. Lantern has offered $310 million, plus the assumption of certain liabilities. Sonar Entertainment submitted a smaller bid on Monday for some of the TV library, according to Dan Gagnier, a spokesman for the company.
It is unclear whether the Weinstein Co. will consider the Kagan bid. The Weinstein Co. did not respond to a request for comment.

Ashley Judd — who alleges that Harvey Weinstein behaved inappropriately toward her in the mid-1990s — is suing the disgraced producer Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The two-time Golden Globe nominee is seeking damages for sexual harassment and defamation, also contending that Weinstein violated California’s Unfair Competition Law. Any winnings would be donated to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, Judd said in a statement.

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 15: “Last Call”
Directed by Jeff T. Thomas
Written by Dan Dietz
Airs Tuesdays at 10pm Et on CBS
Some episodes can have all of the elements that should make a perfectly effective hour of television, and would for most TV shows, but for whatever completely subjective reason, they don’t seem to work nearly as much as they should. In the case of “Last Call”, the pieces should theoretically work and yet, perhaps due to how they come together throughout the episode, the episode just doesn’t work, plain and simple.
The biggest and most significant problem with the episode is the villain, an over-the-phone kidnapper that forces a 911 dispatcher (Melissa Sagemiller) to delete phone call records lest he blow up a boy. This villain, who we never learn the name of and only ever hear, is perhaps the most melodramatic, over-the-top presence that the...

Because Finch (Michael Emerson) doesn't already have enough enemies running around on "Person of Interest," he can add a new one to the list after Season 3 episode 15, "Last Call." What starts as a simple save-a-number mission turned into something darker when a mysterious mercenary targets Finch as a future victim.
Though "Last Call" is focused on police operator Sandra's (Melissa Sagemiller) plight, the man on the phone who is forcing her to execute actions which go against her moral code is much more interesting. As Shaw (Sarah Shahi) describes him, he is like Finch if Finch was evil.
Viewers have already seen Vigilance introduced as a foil of sorts to Finch's operation, but this new villain is definitely his opposite. Could the man behind the phone be a part of Vigilance? Or just an extraneous mercenary like he seems? It seems unlikely he is working alone, even though he does...

Two characters have just gone up in ashes on the "Chicago Fire" spinoff series.
NBC's "Chicago P.D." has just cut two actors from the cast: Scott Eastwood and Tania Raymonde. Both actors appeared in last season's backdoor pilot episode of "Chicago Fire" that introduced the spinoff series' cast, but they will not be moving forward with the spin-off, TVLine reports.
Both actors quietly departed the series over the summer for "creative reasons" along with previously exited cast members Melissa Sagemiller and Kelly Blatz. Sophia Bush, Patrick Flueger, and Jesse Lee Soffer joined the cast shortly afterwards.

Deadline reports that Soffer will be introduced on Season 2 of "Fire," before transitioning over to "Pd" which is expected to launch midseason on the network.

Melissa Sagemiller who was expected to bring the character of Detective Julia Willhite from "Fire" to "Pd" will not be continuing with the spinoff.

Jesse Lee Soffer has closed a deal as a new series regular on NBC‘s midseason drama series Chicago Pd. On the Chicago Fire spinoff, Soffer will play a young police detective who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. I’ve learned that Soffer’s character will be introduced this fall on the mothership series Chicago Fire in a couple of episodes before segueing to Chicago Pd. NBC employed a similar strategy with the other characters from the spinoff who made their debut on Chicago Fire. (Of the Chicago Pd cast members introduced on Chicago Fire last season, Melissa Sagemiller will not continue on the show.) Soffer, repped by Silver Lining Entertainment and Innovative Artists, will be able to do both shows as Chicago Fire is a midseason series and goes into production later than Chicago Fire. I hear Soffer got the attention of NBC executives with...

Some actors – Johnny Depp, say – are comforting for the critic because they barely seem to get older. Others offer harsher evidence of the changes wrought by time
The life of a film reviewer, with its weekly routine, sometimes has a deceptively Groundhog Day-ish quality. It's easy to think time is standing still. The same sorts of film come around. The same stars come around. Johnny Depp? Back in another movie, looking pretty much the same as ever ... Cameron Diaz? Back in another movie, looking pretty much the same as ever ... And yet time is naturally not standing still. People are getting older, careers are waxing and waning. Suddenly, with a jolt, you realise the young stars who 10 years ago you thought were going to be ubiquitous are no longer around. Wait! Hang on. Well, if you are one of those people who can't stand remakes of classic TV shows, this story should make you happy. The proposed remake of The Rockford Files is dead -- at least for the moment.
You may recall that a pilot script was written by House's David Shore and was filmed for NBC last year starring Dermot Mulroney with Alan Tudyk, Beau Bridges, Alex Fernandez, and Melissa Sagemiller in supporting roles. The network wasn't thrilled with the finished product and opted not to greenlight it to series. (Perhaps they still feeling singed by the failed attempts to resurrect Bionic Woman and Knight Rider?) While that may happen one day, a Rockford Files remake won't be on the Fall 2011 schedule. Shore instead has to focus his...
