Fremantle has struck a strategic development deal with Awa Studios, the film and television division of Awa.
The deal will allow Fremantle and Awa Studios to collaborate and co-develop a slate of TV projects based on Awa’s expanding IP library. The graphic fiction publisher and entertainment studio was founded in 2018 by Marvel alumni Bill Jemas and Axel Alonso, and Jon Miller.
Under the pact, the two companies will collaborate closely on “all aspects” of the partnership, with Fremantle leading on raising production finance and funding the development of projects. Fremantle will also run studio efforts and execute physical productions as well as handle international distribution for all projects launched.
Awa is backed by James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems, Sister, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. In early 2021, the company established Awa Studios, its Film and TV division, helmed by Hollywood veteran Zach Studin as president, who will oversee the partnership with Fremantle.

“Top Gun: Maverick” and “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski will direct “Chariot,” the graphic novel adaptation recently published by Artists, Writers and Artisans (Awa), according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
Screenwriter Julian Meiojas (“Jack Ryan” and “The Flash”) will write the script.
Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing with Kosinski via Levy’s 21 Laps banner. The executive producer is Awa’s Zach Studin. “Chariot” marks the first project for recently formed Awa Studios, the film and TV arm of the publisher.
According to Awa, the Chariot was a Cold War-era secret government project to provide its star agent with a weapon unlike any other in the form of a supercharged muscle car. It sank into the ocean decades ago, and the agent along with it. Now, a petty criminal looking to reform his life has stumbled upon the Chariot, and he’s about to find out...

The Flash, Season 2, Episode 3, “Family of Rogues”
Directed by John F. Showalter
Teleplay by Julian Meiojas & Katherine Walczak
Airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm (Et) on CW
While the first two episodes of this season focused on introducing Zoom and the concept of multiple worlds, The Flash takes a detour with “Family of Rogues,” an aptly named episode considering both the A and B plots this week are all about family. Lisa Snart shows up asking for Flash’s help in rescuing her brother Leonard, who was apparently kidnapped, and Joe’s long-lost, supposedly dead wife is back in town and wants to reunite with her daughter. Barry tracks down Leonard, who reveals that he is working with his father Lewis (Michael Ironside) against his will. It seems Lewis was not the ideal father figure, particularly to Lisa Snart, who we learn he physically abused as a child. Now he’s...

While the official synopsis for this episode of The Flash mentions only Captain Cold and the return of his father to Central City, the first clip from “Family of Rogues” confirms that the show will still be spending some time focusing on the mysteries of Earth-2. That’s where Jay Garrick hails from, and as you can see, Barry and the rest of team Flash have now made it their mission to both help him return and solve the mystery of Zoom.
Following the shocking last minute reveal in last week’s episode of The Flash that Harrison Wells is a beloved hero on Earth-2, you have to wonder whether this doorway being in S.T.A.R. Labs is going to somehow lead to him meeting up with the Scarlet Speedster, a moment which is sure to be very interesting considering the fact that the Earth-1 version was Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash in disguise.

Season two of The Flash has gotten off to a great start, and while the series has done an excellent job of bringing us up to speed with where the main characters are, much of the focus has been on introducing new heroes and villains, like Jay Garrick and Zoom. However, next week’s instalment of the hit show will bring back fan-favourite villain Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller).
While he briefly appeared in the premiere as part of a dream sequence, this is the first time we’ll be seeing Cold since it was announced that he’ll be taking on a starring role in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. As a result, it’s going to be very exciting to see if this episode helps to set the stage for his appearance there in any way or if that’s being saved for the upcoming Arrow/The Flash crossover episode.

The first is for Arrow, and it reveals that Green Arrow and Diggle won’t be wasting any time in taking the fight to Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E. We also now know it will be Laurel who takes Sara’s body to Nanda Parbat in a bid to bring her back from the dead, something which is going to lead to Matt Ryan’s Constantine showing up in the fourth episode. Here’s the synopsis for “Restoration”:
The growing tension between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey) puts both their lives at risk when they go after Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and a H.I.V.E. deployed meta-human. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) talks Thea (Willa Holland) into returning to...
