Liam Neeson isn’t done with the action game just yet. The star who found a second career in his twilight years as a man with particular sets of skills is getting the most out of his time while his body allows him. Neeson recently starred in the Netflix action film, The Ice Road, from the writer of Die Hard with a Vengeance and writer/director of Thomas Jane’s 2004 Marvel adaptation, The Punisher, Jonathan Hensleigh. The Ice Road saw Neeson and Laurence Fishburne trekking across a frozen highway in semi-trucks as the ice perpetually cracks below them. There are now reports that a sequel is on the way and heading to Amazon thanks to a huge deal made at this year’s Cannes market. According to Deadline, the “biggest deal thrashed out so far at this year’s Cannes market is nearing completion with Amazon Prime Video set to...

Exclusive: The biggest deal thrashed out so far at this year’s Cannes market is nearing completion with Amazon Prime Video set to pre-buy international rights — excluding Germany — to Liam Neeson action sequel Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky in a pact pegged around $17M.
Deal isn’t done but is heading that way, we understand from market sources. Germany has sold in a separate multi-million dollar pact to a different buyer.
The project will see the evergreen Neeson headed back to treacherous and frozen terrain, this time swapping out The Ice Road‘s harsh climbs of Northern Canada for the similarly inhospitable mountains of Nepal.
The Solution Entertainment Group is handling international sales. CAA Media Finance is repping U.S. rights. The Solution, CAA and Amazon all declined to comment.

Well, it's not a remake story at least. There's a film coming. Based on Pez. Honestly.
The Lego Movie was (this is unavoidable) awesome. The fact that The Lego Movie has now given Hollywood the bright idea that every half-assed inanimate object (special note: there is an Emojis movie in the works) somehow deserves to be made into a movie with a nine figure budget is considerably less so.
Envision Media Arts is supposedly going to make a movie based on Pez. Do you know what Pez is? It's the sweets that look like, well, bricks. Sugar-filled bricks. But it tastes like a mixture of soap and chalk. The best thing about Pez is the distinctive spring-loaded dispensers, which often feature familiar characters. You tilt the heads back and it dispenses an inedible sweets from its 'neck'.

Let's just cut to the chase: there's a recently-announced feature-length animated movie in the works based on the Austrian candy Pez and their mechanical pocket dispensers typically holding 12 pieces of candy. Much like the upcoming Emoji movie, it's easy to get cynical about such a revelation, and for good reason. There's no character, story or clear-sighted motivation to come from this other than market recognition and capitalistic tie-ins. That much is obvious. So let's see where exactly Envision Media Arts hopes to take this. According to a press release, it's going to simply center on "a world unique to Pez" and on "a story that will touch the hearts of many" including "children and adults alike" who find the dispensable candy "beloved." I take this all to mean producers Lee Nelson and David Buelow and screenwriter Cameron Fay (the upcoming Three Stooges sequel) are in the preliminary stages of this project (i.

Hollywood’s obsession with making films about the most inane things possible continues, as The Wrap reports that we’re getting a bloody Pez movie. For those unaware, Pez is a popular candy that has been around for over 80 years, dispensed from the plastic heads of various characters from pop culture. There’s Star Wars, Batman, Marvel, Looney Tunes – you name it, chances are Pez has used its likeness.
Envision Media Arts (Ema) will develop the movie, with Cameron Fay (Brother in Laws) on board as writer. Ema CEO and founder Lee Nelson will produce along with the company’s president of TV and film, David Buelow.

Exclusive: Here’s the first look at Eddie Murphy starrer Cook along with actress Britt Robertson, which has begun principal photography in Los Angeles. Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon are producing for Cinelou Films, the banner behind Jennifer Aniston indie Cake, and two-time Oscar nominee Bruce Beresford is directing. Susan McMartin (Mom) penned the script based on her own experiences with the cook that came to live with her and her mother when McMartin was a child. Initially, the arrangement was intended to last six months—the life expectancy of McMartin’s ill mother—but it instead developed into a lasting and influential friendship of 15 years.
Murphy plays the title role, Mr. Church, who begins cooking meals for 11-year-old Charlotte (called Charlie) and her mother, Marie (Natascha McElhone) in the early 1970s. As the older Charlie (Britt Robertson) continues to navigate through life without Marie, she comes to rely on the quiet and service-oriented Mr.

Driving anywhere can be a real pain in the ass. There are so many things you have to be on the lookout for... a hopped up Justin Bieber, maniacal bike messengers who travel at speeds in excess of Mach 3, and now? Well, now you can throw man-eating creatures into the mix.
According to The Wrap, Envision Media Arts has secured the rights to Keith Ray Putman’s action-horror spec script Red Ice, which follows a trucker hauling emergency supplies across the frozen waterways of arctic Canada who must survive an onslaught of mysterious, man-eating creatures.
“The ice roads have always been an intriguing, dangerous setting,” said Ema president David Buelow. “Keith’s script puts a very visceral, smart spin on the genre.”

It’s a been a few years since the High School Musical franchise finally came to an end, which means it’s high time Disney found a new musical movie to turn into a hot commodity. We’ve already seen high school turned into a musical, so what could we do next? How about a callback to all the classic beach-party movies of old? Nothing says “appropriate for all ages” like teenagers singing and dancing at the hot, sunny beach in nothing but their bathing suits. That’s a lot of sex appeal Disney will have to curb. Amazingly, they might have done the trick without much effort.

Director Jennifer Lynch continues her tradition of warped filmmaking with Chained. A mother and son are abducted by a serial killer, Bob. Mom is raped and killed, and the child (nicknamed Rabbit) is chained up and raised into a young adult. It is a fascinating exploration of nature versus nurture, one Ms. Lynch was happy to explore with us.
Chained is based on someone else’s screenplay. How did it come to your attention?
It was sent to me by Lee Nelson and David Buelow, the two producers. I thought it was a really great, scary idea, about a serial killer who drove a taxi, picked up a fare, killed the mother, and kept the boy. But the rest of it felt more like torture-porn to me. That’s not to criticize Damian O’Donnell’s original script. There are people out there who enjoy, and are very good at,...
