When you're an action star like Dwayne Johnson, your acting process can be twice as involved as it is for an ordinary dramatic actor. Given his background in the physically grueling realm of sports entertainment, audiences expect to see Johnson perform his own stunts. This means he has to spend a tremendous amount of time rehearsing his intricate fight choreography to the extent that it appears seamless when cameras roll. This might not be the acme of serious acting, but it's a heckuva lot harder on your body than playing Willy Loman.
For a performer like Johnson, there's not a more important person on set than the fight choreographer. On "Black Adam," Chris Brewster filled that role. He's one of the top stunt people in the industry, renowned for his work on "The Tomorrow War," "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and Netflix's "Daredevil" series. And he had a splendid time...

The backbreaking work that stunt performers have put into some of our favorite action scenes is finally getting more attention and appreciation, largely due to shows like "Daredevil" and franchises like "John Wick" that have raised the bar to an entirely new level. The ingenuity of Australian stunt work and the graceful choreography of Hong Kong cinema have found their way into American action films, and audiences are loving it. There are countless stunt performers who are contributing to the new school action we're witnessing, but if the Oscars ever do eventually give out a Best Stunt award, stunt performer Chris Brewster should definitely be on the short list.
Brewster was the fight coordinator for "Black Adam" and has worked in a variety of roles in massive action properties like "Captain America: Civil War," "Loki," "Black Panther," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and "Django Unchained," just to name a few. He...

We've been inundated with superhero adaptations in popular media for more than two decades now, going back to "X-Men" in 2000, which truly kicked that door wide open. But of anything that's come along in that time, it was Netflix's "Daredevil" that arguably gave us some of the greatest fight scenes in superhero history. Particularly, the ever-memorable long-take hallway fight from the season 1 episode, "Cut Man." The man largely responsible for that greatness? Fight coordinator Chris Brewster.
/Film's own Jack Giroux recently spoke with Brewster in honor of the release of "Black Adam," which he also coordinated the fights for. You can read the full interview here but, when it comes to that epic "Daredevil" scene, Brewster reveals that he paid a price to make it happen. Specifically, he got knocked the f*** out.
"Man, for the hallway, I got completely knocked out on the fifth take. They wanted to call it.

Any veteran stunt coordinator and choreographer worth their salt has been there and done that several times over throughout the years. When big budget superhero movies go out of their way to employ talent like Chris Brewster to punch up the fight scenes a bit, it's fair to assume that those in charge came away impressed by their body of work. One quick gander at Brewster's IMDb page confirms the downright prolific amount of credits to his name, which makes it all the more understandable why he worked so well as a fight and stunt coordinator on "Black Adam" alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and the rest of the cast.
/Film's Jack Giroux had the chance to talk to Chris Brewster in a recently published and wide-ranging interview, where he discussed his experiences on the set of "Black Adam," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and the Netflix series "Daredevil.

Marvel Cinematic Universe films are a curiosity among modern superhero movies in that they're lauded for their general spectacle but not so much for their action scenes. What's more, at the risk of kicking the proverbial hornet's nest, this is one area where recent DC films have surpassed their Marvel peers. Where the one-on-one fights in the MCU often boil down to a bunch of weightless computer-generated images bashing one another silly, the brawls in DC titles like "Batman v Superman," "Aquaman," and "Birds of Prey" boast precise choreography and a tangible sense of danger.
There are a few exceptions, like some of the more memorable martial arts throwdowns from "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" and, if we're including the old Marvel Television shows, the stellar one-take tussles in Netflix's "Daredevil." Of course, there's one MCU movie action scene that towers over all the rest and...

There was a time when, if we were lucky, we might have a movie every so often about a pure A-list superhero such as Batman, Superman, or Spider-Man. But those days are long behind us as comic book-based cinema has ruled the box office for 20 years and is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. Case in point, Dwayne Johnson's long-awaited "Black Adam" recently debuted to strong ticket sales, opening up a new corner of the DC universe.
And while The Rock was the man who convincingly brought Teth Adam to life, it was a man named Chris Brewster who made the action believable, serving as the fight coordinator on the movie. But Brewster's resume is impressive, having also worked on projects like "Daredevil," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Loki," and "Watchmen," among many others. But how does one craft fights for such wildly different superheroes as Black Adam and Daredevil?...

Chris Brewster has performed stunts since he was a teenager. Brewster, who started learning martial arts at the age of four, has performed in a variety of movies and shows over the last decade. He was a stuntman in "Captain America: Civil War," "Daredevil," HBO's "Watchmen," and even took a punch from Russell Crowe in "The Nice Guys." For "Daredevil," he was also the fight choreographer, in addition to doubling for lead actor Charlie Cox. His credits as fight choreographer, stunt coordinator, and stunt performer also include "Loki," "Ms Marvel," "Doom Patrol," "Lovecraft Country," "Black Panther," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Django Unchained," and so much more.
Not to mention, Brewster was once set on fire for the "Fright Night" remake.

The character of Hawkman is one that, despite being a staple of DC Comics since 1940, has surprisingly been underutilized in live-action media. Sure, he's appeared on "Smallville" and "Legends of Tomorrow," but compared to other mainstay DC heroes, the archeologist known as Carter Hall hasn't had as many appearances outside of comics and animation.
However, that might change soon, as Hawkman is finally being introduced to the DC Extended Universe in "Black Adam." Portrayed by "One Night in Miami" star Aldis Hodge, this version of the character is one that has been a superhero for a while, even leading the Justice Society of America in its fight for the greater good. With that experience under his belt, it would make sense for Hawkman to fight like he's a seasoned pro. In a recent interview with /Film's Jenna Busch, Hodge discussed his approach to crafting his character's fighting style alongside fight coordinator Chris Brewster.

“There are worse things out tonight than vampires,” says Wesley’s Snipe in his oh-so-cool performance as the titular character in the 1999 film Blade. Now, it sounds like the actor is about to trade in acid-edged swords for sawn-off shotguns, as he turns his attention to a different kind of living dead in Outbreak Z.
Directed by Chris Brewster, the SAG-award winning fight choreographer and stunt performer for Black Panther, Outbreak Z is said to feature a murderers’ row of renowned Hollywood stunt performers and martial artists, setting it up to be one of the most unique horror movies to hit the scene next year. On top of starring, Snipes will also executive produce the feature.

Wesley Snipes has signed on to Star in and produce a new zombie action film called Outbreak Z. The movie is set to be directed by Daredevil fight choreographer and stunt performer Chris Brewster. Snipes has already battled vampires, so I guess it’s only appropriate that he takes on a horde of zombies at some point in his career.
The story for Outbreak Z focuses on “two Swat officers on a desperate hunt through an overrun college campus in search of a man who holds a vaccine to a zombie virus.” Snipes will play one of the officers.
While talking to Cb about the film, the director says that he is developing a Zombie movie that will be different from anything we’ve seen before and that it will break all the zombie rules.

Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther won the marquee film ensemble prize Sunday at the 25th annual SAG Awards, topping a loaded field of fellow Oscar nominees and making it a serious contender for next month’s Academy Awards.
“It’s a pleasure to be celebrated by you, to be loved by you,” star Chadwick Boseman said to conclude a rousing speech onstage at the Shrine Auditorium. “And you know you can’t have a Black Panther now without a ‘two’ on it,” — a reference to a pending sequel to the pic, which grossed $1.35 billion this year.
Sunday’s kudos were the first chance since last week’s Oscar nominations for those in the race to establish frontrunner status. Netflix’s “Daredevil” went viral in April 2015 thanks to a season one fight scene that was edited together to look like an uninterrupted shot running three minutes. The hallway fight became a staple of the show’s inaugural run, earning over 2 million views on YouTube and making funs wonder when the Marvel series would ever try to do something that ambitious again. The answer, as fans are now discovering, is in the fourth episode of the newly released third season. The installment, entitled “Blindsided,” features a one take that lasts 10 minutes and 43 seconds.
What makes the season three long take such a jaw-dropping feat isn’t its length but the fact it really is a single, uninterrupted shot. Showrunner Erik Oleson recently told Vulture the fight scene is an actual 11-minute take and not several shots stitched together like the season one fight scene or Alejandro González Iñárritu’s movie “Birdman.

(Warning: This story contains spoilers from the third season of Netflix’s “Daredevil”)
New “Daredevil” showrunner Erik Oleson had a lot of crazy ideas for his run on the third season of the Marvel TV drama.
And none were more insane than that ridiculous prison breakout scene in the fourth episode. The sequence, which is a single shot (meaning it was one camera continuously rolling with no cuts), spans 11-and-a-half minutes and features Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fighting his way out of a prison — without his superhero costume. Oleson himself was surprised that Marvel even allowed him to do it.
“When you’re a showrunner and you call up your studio and you tell them that you want the crew to show up for work, but not film a single frame, because instead you’re going to rehearse one shot for an entire day, pretty much any studio in town...

It was earlier today that Marvel and Netflix finally revealed when The Defenders will assemble on the online streaming service, and anticipation is understandably at an all-time high to see these heroes come together on the small screen for the first time.
Daredevil kicked things off back in 2015 and the Man Without Fear is so far the only one to have starred in more than just a single season. That gives star Charlie Cox quite a bit more experience than the actors who play Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, so he was understandably glad to have something of a break while shooting The Defenders.
“Do you know what, when we filmed the first two seasons of Daredevil, it destroyed me. Defenders is slightly different because it has four of us. We can’t all be together all the time so there’s a lot more time off. The...
