Love, Victor is bidding farewell with a very important message. The final season of the groundbreaking series, which dropped all eight episodes simultaneously on Hulu and Disney+ June 15, comes at a time of increased attacks against the young queer community that it celebrates and supports. "As we're experiencing this resurgence of these draconian laws that are really terrible for LGBT youth—especially for trans youth—the Don't Say Gay bill in Florida, which is repugnant and egregious, " Love, Victor executive producer Brian Tanen told E! News, "I think it speaks to the fact that there are still people who would like to litigate queer people out of...

Note: Spoilers for the entirety of “Love, Victor” Season 3 below.
For the past three years, “Love, Victor” has shepherded a wave of uplifting stories centered around young, queer people, including Hulu’s “Crush,” HBO Max’s “Genera+ion,” and Netflix’s “The Half of It” and “Heartstopper.” The serialized spin-off to the 2018 film “Love, Simon,” following Michael Cimino’s Victor Salazar, a closeted high schooler of Colombian and Puerto Rican descent, was heralded as having rectified some of the sins of its predecessor, offering a more nuanced and intricate representation of LGBTQ+ youth.
With its third season, which debuted on Hulu (and Disney+) in its entirety June 15, the series is coming to a close. The show’s unexpected end — announced back in February — came despite its maintenance of strong audience and critical reviews, with Them magazine describing it as “distressing proof that nothing pure lasts forever.”

From its very first episode, Hulu’s “Love, Victor” feels like a hug.
Created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who adapted “Love, Simon” for the big screen, the series expands upon the film with a young, closeted student at Creekwood High School: Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino).
As with “Love, Simon,” “Love, Victor” is heartfelt and humorous — an extension of Becky Albertalli’s original novel and an opportunity for Aptaker and Berger to tell more queer stories with the help of executive producer Brian Tanen.
“We love our teen drama and we wanted to have lots of exciting things happening to these kids,” says Tanen, who executive produced “Atypical” and cut his teeth writing and story editing credits on “Ugly Betty,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Desperate Housewives.” “Sometimes that meant sad things and real emotional problems that real teenagers grapple with, but we always wanted to balance that with wish fulfillment,...

Love, Victor, the Hulu/Disney+ streaming series, which owes its origins to the film Love, Simon, is dropping its third and final season on Wednesday, June 15. TV Insider spoke to showrunner Brian Tanen and members of the show’s cast at the second annual queer television festival The OutFronts in Hollywood for a preview of what fans of Love, Victor can expect to see as the series comes to an end. Tanen tells TV Insider that knowing this would be the series last season helped him decide the creative direction of the show. “We want to show that these kids, especially Victor [Michael Cimino], are all going to be okay,” Tanen says. “Victor went on a journey of coming out in Season 1. In Season 2, he had a relationship. And, now, in Season 3, it’s about Victor’s journey of self-discovery. He’s going to be asking who he wants to be in the world.

Victor (Michael Cimino) just wants to start over — just as the end is near.
The third and final season of “Love, Victor” premieres June 15 on Hulu and, this time, also on Disney+ as the streamer expands its older-skewing offerings. Season 2 left off with Victor’s love triangle heating up between his first love Benji (George Sear) and new student Rahim (Anthony Kevyan), who recently came out to his Muslim family after receiving advice from Victor.
As graduation looms and Victor tries to determine who he wants to (re)start a relationship with, the high school senior hopes to just “go back to that perfect moment” of falling in love for the first time.
“A lot of the time, the scariest things are also the most important, like admitting who you love or who you are,” Victor says in the trailer.

“Love, Victor” is being added to Disney+.
The upcoming third season of the teen coming-of-age drama, will be available on Disney+ and Hulu beginning June 15, along with Seasons 1 and 2, a source with knowledge of the move confirmed to TheWrap.
“Love, Victor” was originally developed for Disney+ but was moved to Hulu after Disney worried that some of the themes explored in the show, such as alcohol use and teen sexuality, might not belong on the family friendly streamer. It was the second project to be moved to Hulu for similar reasons, following the Zoe Kravitz-led “High Fidelity” reimagining, which was canceled after one season.

Season 2 of Hulu’s comedy-drama series “Love, Victor” was recently released, giving fans another look into Victor’s life as he comes out as gay to his Catholic parents, further explores his queerness in a new relationship and possibly falls for another boy — all while navigating high school. And underscoring the show’s moving plot lines is a collection of original songs — most of which are from queer artists — that brilliantly soundtrack each heart-fluttering hand hold, emotional confession and rousing climax throughout the season.
Inspired by and set in the same world as the beloved movie “Love, Simon,” “Love, Victor” follows Michael Cimino as Victor, a half Puerto Rican, half Colombian American teen who is piecing together his identity as he juggles family, friendships and romantic interests.
George Sear stars as Victor’s main love interest, Benji, alongside Rachel Hilson, Anthony Turpel, Bebe Wood, Mason Gooding, Isabella Ferreira, Ana Ortiz and James Martinez.

Spoiler Warning: Do not read if you have not watched Season 2 of “Love, Victor,” streaming now on Hulu.
The second season of “Love, Victor” — the spinoff series of the groundbreaking 2018 coming out feature “Love, Simon” — picks up right where the first left off, with Atlanta teenager Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino) telling his parents that he’s gay. After waiting a year, audiences finally get to see how Armando (James Martinez) and Isabel (Ana Ortiz) react to their son’s announcement.
It’s not terrible — there are no tears or screaming, no condemnations or rejections. But at first, neither parent embraces who Victor is either. Armando at least engages, if awkwardly, asking about his girlfriend (i.e. Victor’s attempt to convince himself he could be with a woman) and wondering aloud when he decided he was gay.
Isabel, however, remains silent. When Victor finally asks her to say something, she blanches.

Hulu released season one of Love, Victor on June 17, and on Aug. 7, they announced that the show had been renewed for season two. Luckily, showrunner Brian Tanen told Gay Times that the show's writers were already thinking ahead. "Right now there's a writers room convened, we're working on the first episodes of season two," he said. "Obviously with coronavirus and everything going on right now, we're a little bit up in the air as to when this might go back into production, but we're hard at work coming up with new stories for the show and we are very optimistic for the future."
Throughout the first season, we see Victor (Michael Cimino) struggle with finding out who he truly is and whether or not his family will accept him. During his birthday party, we finally get to see Victor stand up for his friends (and potentially himself) and their right...

It also comes two days after Hulu canceled another freshman series in Zoe Kravitz rom-com “High Fidelity.” It’s particularly interesting that “High Fidelity” was given the boot and “Love, Victor” the nod, given that both shows made much-publicized moves from Disney Plus to Hulu amid a larger content shuffle between the two Disney-owned platforms.

ABC has pulled the plug on “Grand Hotel” after a single season, Variety has confirmed.
Based on the original Spanish series and starring Demian Bichir, Eva Longoria and Roselyn Sanchez, “Grand Hotel” provided an upstairs/downstairs look at the scandals and secrets of both the Mendoza family and the staff that works for them.
The show was written Brian Tanen, who executive produced alongside Longoria and Ben Spector through UnbeliEVAble, as well as Ramon Campos and Teresa Fernandez-Valdes for ABC Studios.
It averaged a modest 0.50 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and around 2.7 million total viewers across its single season. The show struggled to make an impact alongside ABC’s summer roster stacked with unscripted content, coming in below competition series like “Holey Moley,” “Card Sharks” and “To Tell The Truth.”

Written by Brian Tanen based on a Spanish format, Grand Hotel was set against the backdrop of a Miami Beach hotel, centering on the family who owns the business, the staff who run it and the explosive secrets they hide under the perfect exterior.
