Jack and Rebecca Pearson‘s fight to legally adopt their African-American son, Randall, led to a tense moment in Tuesday’s episode of This Is Us.
“The Most Disappointed Man” explored the emotional power of the judicial system circa 1981 as Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore‘s characters attempt to make the Big Three official.
Much as how the NBC drama has consistently discussed real-world issues, Randall’s adoption once again touched on race.
The couple’s court proceeding turned tense when the judge (Delroy Lindo) wasn’t so convinced that two white parents should be raising an African-American child,...

The Television Critics Association have announced the winners of their 33rd annual awards at a ceremony hosted by Kristin Chenoweth. She sang, of course, but the surprise is that she pulled up Sterling K Brown for a duet. They sang "For Good" from Wicked! This is not a televised awards show but apparently his voice was good. That's a surprise to anyone who watched him "sing" in character on This is Us, the reveal there being that his character had no musical talent.

It is quite possible that the most exciting thing the Dceu fans have to look forward to is the announced Green Lantern Corps movie. Honestly, it may be the best thing after I am sure we all will take a huge dump on Justice League, The Flash, The Batman, Cyborg (unlikely it will ever happen) and gees what else is there? Oh Ya, Wonder Woman -- and this may be the exception, as we learned that Ares will be the villain, and I think that alone may make this film decent'ish. Ok, I get it, I am being a fanboy here, but I still have high hopes for 2020+ as David Goyer is co-writing Glc with Geoff Johns behind the wheel, and already one notable actor is clamoring for the John Stewart role.

Ten years ago, Sterling K. Brown and Brian Tyree Henry met while working on the Tarell Alvin McCraney play “Wig Out” at the Sundance Theater Lab.
Both actors were playing drag queens, and one day, Henry – who was sporting a thick beard at the time – asked Brown to help shave his face.
“He did it,” Henry recalled. “He went and got clippers, and we’ve been best friends ever since. Once you shave a guy’s face, man, you’re best friends after that.”
Cut to 2016, and after years paying dues on stage and in small roles, Brown and Henry both coincidentally had the breakthrough year of their careers.
Brown, of course, won an Emmy portraying Christopher Darden on FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” and now stars in the fall’s new hit NBC series “This Is Us.” (He also just landed a role in “Marvel’s Black Panther.

Netflix’s “Stranger Things” is an early favorite at this year’s ceremony, as the 80s throwback thriller scored three nominations – tied with Netflix’s “The Crown” and FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” for the most of any TV program. (“Game of Thrones” and “Westworld” also received three if the stunt category is included.)
The SAG Awards also uniquely honors full TV comedy and drama ensembles, and in recent years has been lauded for honoring a diverse crop of male and female actors. That streak continued on Wednesday morning with nods for a diverse mix of performers – including this year’s big breakout, Sterling K. Brown, who earned nominations in both drama (“This Is Us”) and limited series (“The People v. O.J. Simpson”) categories.

Now on Channel 4 in the UK, heartstrings-tugging NBC hit This Is Us offers viewers a warm blanket of hope in TV form...
We're almost at the end of 2016, a year that has been hard for some and impossible for others. Amidst the real-world events that have occurred over the last twelve months, there's been a fair bit of discussion around what the role of entertainment and television should be going forwards. Does it even have any meaning when there are so many, much bigger, things to worry about?

I like to think that the answer to this question is a resounding yes, and that television is arguably our most valuable forum for art in a world intent on arguing with itself.

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes, and clips and puts it all in perspective. On the major networks, law enforcement shows are about nabbing the bad guy. Lawyer shows are about winning the big case. And dramedies are all about... making us cry. That's not a judgment. Perhaps a better way to put it, shows like Parenthood and the upcoming This is Us, which tells the stories of people all born on the same day, are about making us feel something other than disgust. This trailer is a hit, which bodes well for NBC. It has more than 51 million views on Facebook alone. Perhaps that's because it's a refreshing breath of fresh air. It may be the Golden Age of Television on streaming and cable, but on the networks, we're up to our neck in procedurals, reality TV, and superhero shows. A multi-generation...

With filming well underway on Marvel's Black Panther, the spies are out in force to give us a glimpse of the action on set...
Ryan Coogler's Black Panther movie is still filming in Atlanta, and we'll be no doubt getting a lot more in the way of essential details as production starts to wrap up, but because it's not a Marvel movie without cars going smashy-smashy - and with more than a little product placement to include of course - the latest set pictures from the first Black Panther outing include some obligatory car riding by Wakanda's chief protector T’Challa, as snapped by some on-set spies.

In an era where everything is measured, scored and ranked, television networks pay close attention to the performance of their series trailers – particularly those that are brand new shows. Lucky for NBC, its upcoming dramedy series This Is Us has a trailer that resonates with viewers so spectacularly that it has broken records on Facebook already – and the show does not even arrive until the fall.
This Is Us is created by Dan Fogelman, who previously wrote the movie Crazy Stupid Love, and also has Pitch over at Fox TV this premiere season. It’s an ensemble show starring Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Sterling K Brown, Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chrissy Metz and Ron Cephas Jones – and it focuses on a range of people, whose lives are interwoven in a variety of ways. The trailer drew over 15 million views after almost 48 hours on Facebook, making it the...

Ryan Murphy‘s new anthology series “Feud,” starring Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon, has landed a straight-to-series order at FX, TheWrap has learned. The series will focus on famous feuds, as the title suggests, with the first season focusing on Joan Crawford and Bette Davis’ animosity on the set of “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” Lange will star as Crawford and Sarandon will play Davis. Despite the on-set difficulty between the two legendary actresses, the film went on to secure five Oscar nominations in 1962. As we continue celebrating actors this month, here's Murtada on a new one to cherish. He's our TV Mvp this week...
Sarah Paulson brought both pathos and steeliness to spare to her portrayal of Marcia Clark. Courtney B Vance was fiery bluster, daring viewers to take their eyes off him as Johnny Cochran. John Travolta was so infinitely alien as Robert Shapiro that he proved fascinating to watch. Almost every single performance was top notch*. What an ensemble.
And yet the clear standout is Sterling K Brown as Chris Darden.
The finale cemented what everyone watching The People Vs O.J. Simpson suspected throughout the past few weeks; we have a new fantastic actor to be excited about. The calm authority he brought to Darden’s closing argument alone should earn him a lot of accolades. Yet he wasn’t finished. At the post-verdict press conference, he goes about delivering a...

Our Idiot Brother Review Title: Our Idiot Brother Director: Jesse Peretz Starring: Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Emily Mortimer, Steve Coogan, Hugh Dancy, Kathryn Hahn, Rashida Jones, Shirley Knight, Tj Miller, Adam Scott, Janet Montgomery, Sterling K Brown, Matthew Mindler Yes, there’s the saying, “nice guys finish last,” and that’s certainly the case for Our Idiot Brother‘s Ned (Paul Rudd) quite often, but when you’re considering movies, nice movies can get a bit of a boost even when they don’t entirely deserve it. Our Idiot Brother is undoubtedly flawed, but director Jesse Peretz turns up the charm with ease, bringing the best out of his talented cast and some impressively honest,...
