The producers of “Dancing With the Stars” are responding to the controversial casting of Sean Spicer (Season 28) and Adrian Peterson (Season 32), among others.
“We’re a silly ballroom dance show, we’re teaching people how to cha cha. The country is divided, so half of the people may have one political view and the other half have the other. At the core of it, we always just go for nice, good people,” executive producer Deena Katz told Variety following ABC’s unscripted panel at the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday.
Katz added that former White House press secretary Spicer became friends with many members of the cast during his time on the show. However, there was a great deal of controversy amid his casting, with former host Tom Bergeron among those expressing disappointment over how the show was being politicized.

‘DWTS’ fans recall the finale that almost ‘broke’ the series
Fan votes were always critical to Dancing With the Stars success. They remain an integral part of getting celebrities to the next round of the competition.
However, there was a time when voting was unlimited for fans of a particular star. Rumors of over-voting for a specific celebrity were not uncommon. But there was no more circumstance of that happening when, during Dancing With the Stars season 27, the finale results shocked viewers and the season’s finalists.
Bobby Bones was declared the season’s champion after scoring 8s weekly alongside pro Sharna Burgess.

Dancing With the Stars has come under attack for casting controversial NFL star Adrian Peterson, as well as its decision to go ahead amid the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes. Professional dancer Cheryl Burke, who was part of DWTS from Season 2 to Season 31, spoke out about Peterson’s casting, saying that she agreed with fellow pro Sharna Burgess, who previously said she’d have walked out of the show if she’d been paired with the football star. “We’ve had a lot of controversial characters on the show. I think I danced with Ray Lewis — that was a bit controversial. When it comes to abuse, I do agree with Sharna,” Burke told Variety regarding Peterson’s inclusion in the upcoming season. “However, you sign up to be a part of the show. And honestly, as a pro dancer, whoever walks in through that door, you don’t turn around and walk out,...

Cheryl Burke is weighing in on the comments her former “Dancing With the Stars” fellow pro dancer Sharna Burgess recently made about difficult dance partners.
Burke — who has been promoting her new iHeartRadio podcast “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” — spoke to Et Canada’s Sangita Patel, insisting anyone wanting to know who her “least favourite” partner was would have to tune in to her podcast.
She did say “he’s a male” when asked for a hint.
“I mean, she made it pretty obvious, right? Like she did say after she won with Bobby Bones, so, I mean, you guys just need to Google it.”
The star then said of Burgess’ comments, which people have assumed are about Jesse Metcalfe: “She’s actually going to be my next guest. I’m interviewing her at the iHeart Music Festival in Vegas very soon in a few days here. Her and...

The cast for the 32nd season of “Dancing With the Stars” has been revealed, and Sharna Burgess has some thoughts.
Burgess, a longtime “DWTS” pro who won the Mirrorball trophy in season 27, singled out one member of the new cast that left her “shocked.”
“The man has been charged with child abuse… That is just devastating for me.”
Speaking with boyfriend (and former “DWTS” dance partner) Brian Austin Green on their “Oldish” podcast, Burgess — who’s sitting out this season — discussed the lineup, which includes Mira Sorvino, Alyson Hannigan, Ariana Madix, Jamie Lynn Spears and “Brady Bunch” alum Barry Williams.

“There’s one person that I would love to share I’m really shocked is on there, which is Adrian Peterson, a football player,” said Burgess, as reported by Deadline.

Dancing with the Stars pro Sharna Burgess has some thoughts about the show’s upcoming Season 32 lineup.
Calling it overall an “incredible” lineup, the Season 27 Mirrorball winner had one objection: former NFL running back Adrian Peterson.
“There’s one person that I would love to share I’m really shocked is on there, which is Adrian Peterson, a football player,” said Burgess on the podcast she hosts with boyfriend and former DWTS partner Brian Austin Green. “I had some people reach out to me and say, ‘Have you seen this? Do you know his history?’ I looked it up. The man has been charged with child abuse of his 4-year-old son, in the way that he punishes him. That is just devastating for me.”
In September 2014, Peterson was indicted by a grand jury on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child, after he had used a wooden implement to discipline his 4-year-old son.

Not everyone is excited about the new cast of “Dancing With the Stars.” Following Wednesday’s announcement of the pros and celebrities set to compete on Season 32, former cast member Sharna Burgess expressed his disappointment in the casting of Adrian Peterson.
“There’s one person that I’d like to share that I’m really shocked is on there is Adrian Peterson, the football player… The man has been charged with child abuse of his four-year-old son in the way that he punishes him and that is just devastating for me,” Burgess said during the latest episode of iHeartRadio’s “Old-ish” podcast. “I’m telling you now if I walked into a room and that was my partner, I would turn around and walk right out. There is no way — now being a mother — I would be able to stomach that.”
The NFL running back has a history of legal woes.

Over the past three seasons, Dancing with the Stars has experienced more than its share of changes: host and cast changes, tragedies, and the switch from network to streaming troubled fans. However, the newest announcement from the ballroom switches things up yet again. Production for season 32 will start over the next several months: what is the most current change to the fan-favorite celebrity competition series?

As it enters its 32nd season, Dancing with the Stars is facing its most significant overhaul yet. Viewers will see all the shake-ups when the series returns to Disney+. Big changes have affected DWTS before. However, they have not always been well-received by fans. Months after season 28 ended, it was revealed longtime host Tom Bergeron had declared his final ballroom winner. Out with Bergeron was his co-host, Erin Andrews, a former DWTS competitor.
Banks faced mixed reactions from fans of the series during her first year as the series’ host. Many viewers had difficulty warming up to the former supermodel.

Ambushed outside a Santa Monica Whole Foods by TMZ, Tyra Banks announced that she’s leaving “Dancing with the Stars.” The host for the past three seasons appeared to break the news before a formal announcement could come from producer BBC Studios or Disney+. “I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor… from the ballroom to the boardroom,” she said. The move comes after original judge Len Goodman, who’d been on the show since its beginning in 2005, announced his retirement from the series.
For this writer and “Dancing with the Stars” superfan, there’s only one answer to who should be the next host: Tom Bergeron. The host of the first 28 seasons was the heart, soul, and DNA of the sparkly series, and he deserves a chance to come back.
Change can be a good thing, and there’s no question Banks grew into the role.

Brian Austin Green praised Megan Fox while reacting to his ex Vanessa Marcil’s claim that she raised their their son Kassius “alone.”
Marcil recently held a Q&a session on her Instagram Stories and it’s there where she was asked about her co-parenting situation with Green, or lack thereof. “We didn’t & don’t co-parent. I raised my son alone,” she responded to the fan’s question.
Green didn’t hold back after posting a screenshot of her response.
“So, I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to read continued lies from a 50+ year old woman on social media like she is still in high school,” he fired back. “She has never in her life been someone to walk the walk. Talk is cheap. Megan and I bust our asses to give Kass a well rounded childhood since his mom was rarely there. I’m assuming...
