Fantasy games are one of the most popular genres in the world of gaming, and soon they will include the upcoming horror title The Axis Unseen. Despite that fact, the majority of fantasy games are infested with RPG settings. Be it Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate, Elder Scrolls, or Dragon Age, it’s all about role-playing action.
This fantasy action-adventure title is not going to be like any other fantasy RPG. However, The Axis Unseen holds uncanny similarities with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but obviously has some unique aspects.
Is The Axis Unseen an RPG Title?
The Axis Unseen is not going to be your friendly neighborhood fantasy RPG.
The Axis Unseen is at its early stage of development right now, so there is no official confirmation yet when the game is going to be released.

Bethesda Softworks launched Fallout 76 in 2018. Introduced as the franchise’s first foray into online shared worlds, with a focus on reclaiming a ruined Appalachia with more problems than just radiation, the response from fans was controversial. It was not moddable, and its buy-once-play-forever servers remain supported by a cosmetics shop and optional monthly sub similar to The Elder Scrolls Online. Driven by caution and curiosity, Fallout fans nonetheless picked at the new game and came up with an equally leery response.
While it was definitely a Fallout game, with eerie environmental storytelling about an empty world left behind after the bombs dropped (complete with janky code and screwy pre-order bonus controversies), the game tried its best to play on bad assumptions about humanity’s natural behaviors. It encouraged Pvp, from workshop battlegrounds to tense encounters in the wild. Though you could group up for bonuses, it felt… weird to run into others.

Ahead of its forthcoming trailer release, highly anticipated horror anthology “F’’: Tales from the End Times”, drops 7 new images featuring scenes from 5 of the film’s included stories. The film, which just completed post-production, details different stories from different directors, all set on the day the world meets its unfortunate end.
Producer and featured director Ash Hamilton (Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story) guarantees that the movie truly represents a huge step froward in bringing multiple horror genres together under one banner, “Often we see horror separating the genre between subgenres like found footage and more classical cinematic driven narrative.” He continued, “With F’s we embraced found footage, Pov in-world storytelling and traditional horror, bridging those somewhat disparate filmmaking methods. It truly gives fans a little bit of everything.”

The Woodmen is the new film from Joshua Brucker whose previous work includes Mothman and the “The Illinois Valley Murder Tapes” segment of Split Screen. Like them, The Woodmen is a found footage film, beginning with a series of title cards telling us that the government is covering up disappearances and deaths in the National Parks. And that two of those missing people are Connor Flynn and Lana Haywood.
Ash Hamilton (Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story) plays himself hosting a podcast that introduces the footage, which starts with Connor going on about hybrid species, coverups, a cave that leads to Middle Earth and Green Berets wiping out everyone in a national park. Mothman’s Got Cakes.
After spending our month-long theme on toxic masculinity with difficult watches like Funny Games (listen), Deadgirl (listen) and Hard Candy (listen), we’re taking a break from the theme and wrapping up November with a look at Mark Pellington‘s 2002 high strangeness chiller The Mothman Prophecies.
The Mothman Prophecies sees journalist John Klein’s (Richard Gere) wife Mary (Debra Messing) experience a strange moth-like vision immediately before she dies from a brain tumor. Two years later, John suddenly finds himself hundreds of miles out of his way in the remote town of Point Pleasant, where there has been a proliferation of “mothman” sightings. While investigating with the local sheriff (Laura Linney), he concludes that the visions are omens of an impending disaster.

One of the most chilling cryptozoology-based horror movies out there, the 2002 film The Mothman Prophecies explores the (allegedly) true accounts of a winged beast that may very well be a harbinger of doom, and it was director Mark Pellington who brought him to the screen. Over 20 years after the film’s release, Pellington teases the return of the Mothman.
At the Eerie Horror Fest in Pennsylvania over the weekend, Pellington hinted that a Mothman Prophecies streaming series is being planned. “Streaming Mothman is coming,” he says.
We don’t have any further information at this time, but Pellington promises that more details will be revealed soon. So stay tuned for more on this one as we learn it.
Released in 2002, The Mothman Prophecies stars Richard Gere as reporter drawn to a small West Virginia town to investigate a series of strange events, including psychic visions and the appearance of bizarre entities.

In Edgar Wright’s Hot Fuzz, a character at one point asks, “Is it true that there is a place in a man’s head that if you shoot it, it will blow up?” Trepang2, from Vancouver-based developer Trepang Studios, believes in this idea with a near-religious fervor. The game is ludicrously gory, as the hail of your first-person fire is capable of mashing bodies into a red paste, sometimes even leaving behind intact organs in its wake. Eventually, you inject a serum that lets you dual-wield the shotguns and then modify them so that they set things on fire.
Drawing inspiration from the dreary aesthetics of mid-2000s shooters and 2005’s F.E.A.R. in particular, Trepang2 sits at the blissful intersection of the very silly and the very serious. Its heavily armored black-ops teams move through gray hallways and offices, coexisting with horrific creatures and experiments gone awry. You play as one such experiment,...

The first issue of Ahoy Comics’ monthly anthology, Project: Cryptid, is now available! Dedicated to the legendary and illusive creatures that have captured the attention of the world for generations, this anthology features a great mix of established creators and new voices, including writer Hanna Bahedry! In our latest Q&a, Hanna talks about getting involved in this anthology, working with artist Lane Lloyd, and what we can expcect from their collaboration on Cryptids Anonymous:
How did you first get involved with Project: Cryptid and why was this an anthology you wanted to take part in?
Hanna Bahedry: Thank you so much for having me, first of all! I’ve been working with the folks at Ahoy since 2019 in my role as publicity coordinator for Superfan Promotions, and they’ve been wonderful and incredibly supportive of my second life as a writer; I started writing a monthly newsletter for them...

For the majority of the film industry’s existence, movie ratings were more of a vague suggestion rather than a strict guideline. Before films like Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom and Gremlins sparked a parental guidance revolution in the mid 80s, the difference between G and PG could often be something as extreme as gory decapitations or even explicit sex scenes.
And while it’s commonly accepted that the advent of the PG-13 rating resulted in studios attempting to pander to the lowest common denominator (with producers insisting that their box office revenue not be handicapped by an R rating while also not wanting to be associated with “kid” movies), I’d argue that limitations aren’t always a bad thing.
And with Blumhouse’s upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s adaptation reminding audiences that you don’t really need traditional blood and guts to be scary, we...

‘Amityville: Mt. Misery Road’ Is a Short Film Barely Stretched to Feature Length [The Amityville IP]
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
There have been some bad Amityville films since we ventured off the path into open IP territory. A lot of filmmakers have used the name recognition of the “franchise” to make a quick buck, albeit to varying degrees of creative success.
While some of the twenty-two films have been…let’s say challenging; at least the vast majority of them have a story to tell. And then there’s Amityville: Mt. Misery Road, which takes a bare bone narrative conceit and stretches it out to 70 minutes.
Yes, folks, welcome to the case of the short that billed itself as a feature.
There’s a kernel of a good idea in the film. Mt. Misery Road hails from multi-hyphenate husband and wife pair Karolina and Chuck Morrongiello,...

“Mary Klein cannot be found by looking. You will see her in time.”
“Based on a true story” is a favorite of writers and Hollywood executives alike. It can be taken verbatim or tweaked and can live in many genres. When myth crosses over into real events, it can be difficult to discern what the focus of a property should be upon. The writer of The Mothman Prophecies was called and consulted about the book he wrote over 20 years after it was published, and he seems to really enjoy it. The search for legendary creatures may not be recognized as a legitimate science, but even the harshest critics of cryptozoology have to admit that it’s fun to imagine that there might still be a little bit of magic hidden in the modern world. From Sasquatch to the Loch Ness Monster, these mythical beasts have been inspiring stories for centuries, so it makes sense that they’d eventually show up in video games.
And with so many digital cryptids to choose from (you’d be surprised with how many games manage to sneak in a Mothman reference), we’ve decided to highlight six of the most memorable Cryptid appearances in gaming. After all, there’s nothing like a good monster hunt, and I think cryptozoology is criminally underutilized when it comes to genre storytelling – especially when it comes to videogames.

As principal photography wraps on two of the five segments of the highly anticipated horror anthology, F’d, several images have been released ahead of a forthcoming trailer. The first set of images come to us from director Ash Hamilton’s wraparound and end segment tentatively titled “Declassified”.
Hamilton made headlines in the 2021-2022 festival seasons when his debut feature Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story broke records worldwide making it the most highly awarded found footage film ever made. When asked if his segment would follow the found footage tradition Hamilton stated, “I think there’s still ground to break within the subgenre. What you’re going to see here might push the boundaries of found footage and Pov, but it will do it in a way that I think will ultimately satisfy and surprise the audience.” Hamilton continued, “With Holes (in the Sky) we wanted to...

Greetings from the other side and welcome back to Dead Time. This month, I explored the history of Mothman and talked with the world’s top Mothman researcher and owner of the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, Jeff Wamsley. On November 15, 1966, two young couples from Point Pleasant, Roger and Linda Scarberry and Steve and Mary Mallette, had a terrifying encounter with a winged creature with glowing red eyes, which they described as “a large, flying man with ten-foot wings.” They were hesitant to report the incident to police but did eventually file police reports. In the following days, other people claimed to have similar experiences with a strange, winged creature.
On December 15, 1967, the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant collapsed, killing 46 people. Some people believed the tragedy was connected to the sightings of the winged creature they called Mothman… and a legend was born. Then in 1975, author John Keel...

The latest documentary from Seth Breedlove and his Small Town Monsters production company, Bloodlines: The Jersey Devil Curse is a look at one of America’s lesser-known bits of folklore. Sure plenty of people have heard of it but unlike Bigfoot or even Mothman, few people seem to know anything about it. In fact, this is the first non-fiction film on the subject I can think of.
Directed by Breedlove and written by Jason Utes (Momo: The Missouri Monster), Bloodlines: The Jersey Devil Curse begins with several folklore experts giving a brief rundown on the creature. My favourite part of this is Dr. Brian Regal describing it as looking like “Pegasus at the end of a very bad meth addiction.”.

After exploring paranormal visitations with Whispers in the Dark and telling a heart-wrenching resurrection story in Crossroads, author Laurel Hightower brings her own unique take to the fascinating mythology of the Mothman in her new novella, Below, in which a woman's road trip through West Virginia takes a hellish turn into creature feature territory.
With Below now available from Ghoulish Books, Daily Dead had the great pleasure of catching up with Hightower in a new Q&a feature as part of our Indie Horror Month coverage, in which Hightower discusses how she came up with the idea for Below, the joys of working with Ghoulish Books to release her new novella, seeing Trevor Henderson's gorgeously haunting cover art for the first time, and she also discusses her experiences co-editing the new anthology The Dead Inside with Sandra Ruttan.

As The Last Possession opens financial problems have forced Kent Peroni, his wife Stephanie and their two kids Jack and Gabby (Lourelle Jensen) to move into the house Kent’s father Roger left him. Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Strange Bedfellows,” the midseason return of “Riverdale” Season 5.
After more than four months, the fifth season of “Riverdale” returned to The CW with a jam-packed hour titled “Strange Bedfellows.” In it, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) opted to leave town, Betty (Lili Reinhart) shared the infamous voicemail message from Jughead that fractured their relationship, and Archie (K.J. Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) agreed to pause their potential reconciliation.
“We’ve been off the air so long, it’s been so weird,” executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tells Variety. “I’m so excited by this [next] batch of episodes. I think there are some really special, strange unique episodes. I’m really proud of them and excited for the ride.”
Here, Aguirre-Sacasa teases what’s to come — from the complicated, shifting, couple dynamics to more musical episodes.

Every film inspired by a real unsolved crime leaves behind the same lingering question: Would any of then retain their full power if their respective real-world crimes were eventually solved? Would “Zodiac” still be such a haunting police sketch of pathological obsession in a world where viewers could Google the killer’s identity in less time than it takes Robert Graysmith to crack even the easiest cypher? Probably. Would an uncannily effective studio thriller like “The Mothman Prophecies” still be eerie enough to punch above its weight class if the Mothman turned out to be a bored accountant named Gary whose prank calls got a little out of hand? Probably not.
This question only applies to so many films, but none have asked it more directly — or answered it with more force — than Bong Joon Ho’s “Memories of Murder.” A loose but historically redolent evocation of the serial killings...

Two students unleash a portal of monsters in a busy family offering from Mexico’s Anima Estudios
The two nominal main characters of this derivative but reasonably amusing computer-animated feature are a pair of teenage kids attending an elite Hogwartsian science school called Cranston Academy in London; the location signified by the fact it rains all the time and the teachers drink tea. Awkward American Danny, who prefers to work solo, is forcibly teamed up with prissy but whipsmart Liz from Australia (Ruby Rose). Together, they get the school’s nuclear reactor working, but it opens up a portal to another dimension. This Promethean class project unleashes all manner of monsters, many of whom recall the creatures in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. but with less affable personalities.

In Riverdale’s stunning midseason finale, the question of whether Betty will ever give in to her dark impulses is answered.
This Riverdale review contains spoilers.
Since making her comic book debut in late 1941, Betty Cooper has become an archetype for the so-called all American girl next door. Beautiful and blonde were her original personality traits. However, the comics were much smarter than to just let Betty become a tired ditzy stereotype. Through the writing of Archie legends like Frank Doyle, George Gladir and Kathleen Webb, Betty Cooper was transformed into a character to be reckoned with.
Across the decades, Betty had been established as everything from Riverdale’s best mechanic to endlessly loyal and forgiving – making her a perfect foil to the oft-snobbish Veronica in the process. Just as Betty’s obsession with Archie was reaching levels of absurdity in the 1970s, the publisher decided to go meta. The...

The mundane mingles with the supernatural in a enjoyably goofy episode.
Riverdale Season 5 Episode 8
“It is better to know the truth and make peace with it.”
In a bit of selfless wisdom, Cheryl states the above words to Betty in tonight’s bonkers installment. The context being that Betty doesn’t want to tell her mother that it looks like Polly is a goner. So she goes to Cheryl basically to inquire whether she feels that her cousin’s life would have been better had she not known Jason’s true fate.
The from-the-heart response that Cheryl gives her is quickly ignored, and Betty hides the truth from Alice. Since this is an episode of Riverdale, Betty’s deception immediately backfires on her when her FBI superior Glen arrives at the Cooper household to reveal Polly’s probable fate and kick Betty off the case..

YouTube creator Bailey Sarian has signed with talent agency WME for representation in all areas.
Sarian takes a novel approach on her channel, which merges two popular and unlikely verticals: beauty tutorials and true crime. To this end, the 31-year-old created an ongoing series dubbed Murder, Mystery and Makeup in Jan. 2019, where she explores, for instance, West Virginia’s infamous Mothman while putting on a full face of makeup (see below).
While Sarian started out as more of a traditional beauty creator in 2013, she has said that Murder, Mystery and Makeup was initially inspired by her fascination with the Chris Watts case. (Watts is currently serving three life sentences for murdering his wife and two daughters). Today, her channel has amassed 2.9 million subscribers, and she’s clocking roughly 30 million monthly views -- largely thanks to her unique, crime-infused take on the space, though she does post non-crime-related beauty videos as well.

In 2017, documentarian Seth Breedlove set out to explore the events of November 1966, when four young people in a remote part of West Virginia claimed to have seen a strange creature they described as a 'man sized bird' with glowing red eyes. This was the first report of what would become known as the Mothman, and a slew of others followed. Was this something real? Was it an incidence of mass hypnosis? Was it all faked, or did excitement about the possibility lead people to misinterpret natural phenomena? Nothing has ever been confirmed. In this film, Breedlove revisits the story to look at how the legend of the Mothman has impacted this small community.
Point Pleasant, the settlement around which most of the reported sightings occurred, is a city in US terms, a large village as far as people from most other countries are concerned. It's in a part of...

From the folklore of West Virginia comes the Mothman, a creature sporadically sighted and thought to herald the coming of disasters and death. Documentary The Mothman Legacy takes a look at the urban myth and how it has cemented itself into the minds of locals, and is coming to digital streaming platforms on October 20th, just in time for Halloween.
The creation of documentary filmmaker Seth Breedlove, the pic examines the enigmatic entity and its history. Although typically thought of as being something rooted in the ‘60s, after which time reports of a “winged, red-eyed creature” began to peter out, the film imagines the possibility of it having been around for far longer than a few mere decades, and with much wider scope than merely the confines of the Mountain State. It features interviews with locals who have encountered the Mothman alongside people who have studied and written about the sightings.

As monsters go the Mothman is a legend that is less than malevolent but is somehow seen to be one of those beings that is both highly prophetic and terrifying simply because it’s largely unknown and its motivations can only be guessed at most times. But as it’s been stated in the upcoming documentary, many people have apparently seen this creature, or at least glimpsed it, over the years. The fact that it has a defined range within Appalachia kind of suggests that there is a little more truth to the Mothman that has to do with something that occurred

We've made a complete and chronological timeline of the events of Watchmen, from the original book to the HBO show. It...wasn't easy.
This article contains nothing but spoilers for Watchmen, both the book and the HBO series.
HBO’s Watchmen timeline is non-linear and occasionally confusing (or “infuriating” as Dr. Manhattan puts it) in its use of time. The book from which it draws inspiration is similarly non-linear and occasionally confusing in its use of time. To make matters even trickier, the show expands upon and even retcons events that take place or are alluded to in the book.
So what’s a fan to do? Why, make a complete and chronological Watchmen timeline, of course! That’s a perfectly sane and normal activity for any well-adjusted adult, and it certainly didn’t give me any severe migraines or make me question my own perception of time at any point.

The Mothman strikes again! That’s the story according to a Chicago trucker who claims he recently spotted the mythical creature near an airport. The witness says he saw the winged beast on November 26th, 2019, at approximately 6:30 Pm. Interestingly enough though, he didn’t report the sighting until December 4th. Perhaps he needed time to digest what he saw or maybe he was afraid that people wouldn’t believe him?
In any case, here’s what he said:
“I was at the airport picking up a load at Nippon, I was already backed into a dock and was standing away from the truck smoking a cigarette while they loaded my truck. I was looking toward the runways, in the direction of the tunnel and that is when I noticed something that looked like a large bird standing just outside of the fence by the parking lot. Don't want to go boldly into dating disaster on Valentine's Day? Beam these Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes onto your screen.
So you’re not into mail-order teddy bears or heart-shaped boxes of bonbons. Neither is the crew of the Starship Enterprise. There are plenty of reasons, human and otherwise, that Star Trek: The Next Generation wouldn’t be considered Valentine’s Day viewing. Androids like Data aren’t programmed to feel human emotion, and just a few minutes of getting to know Worf makes it clear the Klingon race will do just about anything to avoid it.
Even the homo sapiens on board (with the possible exception of Riker) aren’t exactly temptresses or Casanovas. Some need an operating manual just to get through a date, while others wouldn’t show affection if the Federation mandated it. Could you possibly imagine Captain Picard waltzing over to Dr.
