Shallow and ridiculous.
12 May 2001
This is a shallow retread of the "Jekyll and Hyde" myth, so sloppily thrown together that we never get any idea about the true content of the story; the script has no depth whatsoever and makes no attempt at descending into the hero's psyche. The movie is gratuitously overdirected (with way too many weird camera angles that add up to nothing), and Anthony Perkins gives, perhaps intentionally, a performance so mannered and campy that it becomes ludicrous.
