Review of Camp

Camp (2003)

Summer Camp. Some are not.
28 February 2004
Not a good title for quite a good film. Try getting straight friends to see a film called Camp and then telling them it is about Musical Summer Camp. One has to explain too much about it to attract viewers, which is a shame because CAMP has plenty of musically entertaining scenes and a couple of very funny plot turns. It is easy to criticize a welcome film like this but it is easier to just enjoy it.

Each of the teens fit their characters well and the casting is exact.

For a few moments it seems to stray into unsuitable territory and regains itself enough to stay basically cheerful, or gay as the case might be. More Foam than Fame. It IS good to see some almost musicals returning to the movie screen and this one is perfect for teens.
