Overall, I thought the movie was great with the exception of Dexters last scene. Both young stars showed excellent acting chops. I truly enjoyed the part where Brad Renfro's character successfully defuses a run in with the local bullies and as they turn and walk away, he throws the rock at them anyway.
This is classic juvenile behavior and it was written and acted to perfection
on the other hand.......................

....as good as this movie was, Dexters final scene was HORRIBLY written. You have a young kid, pass away in his hospital bed and not one beep or alarm goes off? The doctor was completely unmoved by his findings, he didn't even try to resuscitate.. NOTHING they just let him die..
Not a realistic depiction at all and really, really, really a terrible way to ruin a near flawless movie.
