I've known this series since the days it was new on the old ABC Saturday line up. When I was little I'd like the other Sonic cartoon and disliked this one.
9 years later it was reversed, that I liked this series more than the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
It's unlike the video game. But it's very cool to watch even if it's nothing like the Video Game.
It's more like a Quest for Survival/Battle for Freedom related cartoon. Robotnik(who is different from the video game) is the overlord of the polluted city of the future: Robotropolis(which was once the peaceful and beautiful Mobotropolis). Robotnik attends to use his machines and robots to take control of the planet.
That won't happen when there's a Fast Hedgehog, Sonic who is the leader of the Freedom Fighters. A group of animals each with different personality. Want to do what it takes to bring back peace to there planet.
This series ran from 1993-1994. Ended as a clip hanger with a total of 26 episodes. A 3rd Season was in plan, but the ABC network don't let shows run no more than 2 seasons, and the Power Rangers ratings kicked this series ratings.
That's abit of a shame. I'd never guessed that this series ended too soon. And it was a great cartoon as well. It's different from your average Talk-Animal shows. It could of gotten a Direct to HomeVideo Movie or even a Video Game with permission from Sega.
Will this series ever see the light of day again. That's hard to answer. Not when there's a lot of people out there that support it along with other great TV shows.
