Oh my God, you men just can't stand for something to not be about you. I saw "Something New" during the opening weekend. I liked it. It's good, but predictable. I wasn't surprised by that. The reason why I wanted to see it is because while it has become more sociably acceptable for a black man to date white women (who are seen as some sort of prize or symbol)a black woman dating outside the race, especially a white man, is seen as a betrayal and I wanted to see how the movie handled that. What completely shocks me is the response on this list about how this movie dogs on black men? Where? When? When Kenya's friends are trading bad relationship stories during the opening scenes? When Kenya's friend starts dating a chef and ends up being engaged to him? The only character in this movie who would even appear to be insulting to black men is Donald Fasion and quite frankly, I've met too many black men like that to say it's a stereotype. I think a lot of you are just mad because she ended up with the white guy and why shouldn't she? The truth is so many black men on her "level" are already dating white women, number one. Number two, black men treat black women like sh*t. The same black man who will treat a white woman like a princess will treat a black woman like the dirt that he walks on, which isn't even an issue that this story touched upon. So to all those black men out there getting bent out of shape i say suck it the freak up. This ain't got sh*t to do with you, for one.
