Kevin Kline's character is the only saving grace of this otherwise disjointed, pointless film and even his brilliance couldn't save it. I read several of the other comments waxing philosophically about the deep beauty of this film and could only think that my viewing companion and I were the only ones able to see that the emperor was wearing no clothes. Just because it's Altman and has a star-studded cast, doesn't automatically guarantee brilliance. On the contrary, this film appears to rest on its laurels knowing that some poor suckers will see it based solely on its credits. Horrible! Stay at home and watch paint dry instead!
