Just about everything about this film was very nice to look at, but had no real story! Now the Love interest gal is absolutely gorgeous and a decent actress, but the script didn't really give her anything to do that was worthwhile. I have a feeling she will be around for quite along time. Very rarely do you see a woman as stunning as her, let alone someone who can actually act. I think with a couple of the right roles, she could become a star. I hope to see her (Paula Patton) a lot more, but with better material.
The outfits and the sets all look top-notch, but who cares if the story is plain ol' dumb! Even with all these stars cameo's, it really didn't add anything to the story. I did like Macy Gray, but she was sadly underused (she isn't even seen in the second half) and given a typically cliché role. Terrence Howard who we saw in his Star making performance in "Hustle & Flow," did the best he could with what he was given. I don't know if it's because I'm a white boy had anything to do with it, but maybe it did. I love "Boyz in the Hood," and "Menace to Society," but I just thought this was poor film-making, and a half realized story. I don't think we have seen the last of this director, and Andre Benjamin has already proved he is a good actor, so I know we will be seeing more of him. As far a Big Boi, he was fine and better than many others, but I think he would be better used as something other than a lead. I don't really recommend this film, but I have seen much worse, and if anything else, the outfits and some of the Dance routines are pretty slick.
