16 February 2007
1936 - "The Milky Way" starring Harold Lloyd Timid milkman, Burleigh Sullivan (Lloyd), somehow knocks out a boxing champ in a brawl. The fighter's manager decides to build up the milkman's reputation in a series of fixed fights and then have the champ beat him to regain his title.

1946 - "The Kid From Brooklyn" starring Danny Kaye Shy milkman Burleigh Sullivan accidentally knocks out drunken Speed McFarlane, a champion boxer who was flirting with Burleigh's sister. The newspapers get hold of the story and photographers even catch Burleigh knock out Speed again. Speed's crooked manager decides to turn Burleigh into a fighter.

2004 - "The Calcium Kid" starring Orlando Bloom The film is a mockumentary comedy, in which Bloom plays young milkman Jimmy. He is an amateur boxer who by a bizarre twist of events ends up fighting the world champion in his home town.

Three actors, the golden boys of their time, doing the same plot. The Kaye film was a remake of the Lloyd offering, and one wonders how much was borrowed by the director of Bloom's film.
