The movie has an amateurish feeling to it, yet the characters appear to be very "at home" with who they are. The interactions at times appeared both droll and unlikely but over time I realized that the types of situations I was watching I have seen before within my own life. I realized that the female protagonist was just like my own mother is some ways and also like my fiancé in other ways. In actual fact the characters were much more believable than I ever realized.
This slow building of the situation and plot ending up having much more impact that I ever realized. I compared it to Robin William's "RV". "RV" was slicker, more fast moving and perhaps more slapstick, but ultimately "California Dreaming" ("Out of Omaha") revealed more to me than "RV" did. I recorded it on my DVR to show my fiancé later this week.
