Gafla (2006)
8/10
Must watch for anyone who has invested in stock markets

Warning: Spoilers
I never heard of this movie till some friends mentioned it a few days back. I am not a very big Bollywood fan, but I decided to watch anyway. I must say I was not disappointed! Gafla is the story of one of the biggest stock market scams ever in India. It is set at the time paper trading used to happen in India. Although the disclaimer says the film was not based on anyone living, it is pretty easy to see who the principal characters are. It may lack the zing zang of a typical Hollywood film, I'll rate it right along with films like 'Wall Street'. It showcases the loopholes in India's systems & processes and how the stock brokers used to exploit it. Vinod Sharawat is absolutely great in this rags-to-riches-to-downfall story of a guy with dreams of making it big. The director has done a fabulous job in keeping the storyline tight and he delivers! Watch the film as a drama and an insight into what made and broke the fortunes of thousands of people during the time.
