Review of Dog Brain

Dog Brain (1988)
10/10
Fun piece of animation to watch
20 August 2008
I was first introduced to "Dog Brain" in the 80's when Nickelodian used this and other Canadian produced animated shorts to fill time between programs. Anyways, this was Jay Falconer's first animated short. Basically, Dog Brain is about a dog taking a snooze while various sounds play in the background (i.e.: kids playing outside, an ice cream man going by, etc.). During which the dog barks....softly......and continues to snooze. It makes one wonder.....what does a dog dream about when sleeping? UPDATE: I recently discovered that this animation short along with some other animated shorts from International Rocketship LTD. are on a compilation called "The International Rocketship Reel". As of this writing, it can only be found on VHS & is out of print. This has yet to be released on DVD but until then, if you can find it, GRAB IT!! If you are (like me) a person who loves cartoons (be it classic Looney Tunes or works that are "way out there") you won't be disappointed. In addition, this compilation also has "Bambi Meets Gozilla" from 1969. Enjoy!!
