This was a fairly passé series that just predated the onset of Fleming's endless James Bond franchise. It was underfunded and extremely limited in budget. The 'exotic' locations were invariably studio sets that looked and sounded flimsy. Casts seldom exceeded half-a-dozen. The plots were predictable. This was spying at its most simplistic. But the programme was intentionally lighthearted and went out during prime-time viewing. It didn't last very long. William Franklin's winning personality was the best part of the show. 'The Avengers' it certainly wasn't.
