This is a hard-hitting crime drama and generally works despite some flaws. Vivek Oberoi is impressive as a rising gangster with Sanjay Dutt the police officer who's after him. While initially appearing to be about police brutality and fake 'encounters', the story has a few twists. The denouement provided by Amitabh Bachchan is admittedly a touch simplistic. However, the action is gritty, and the film well-paced. There are a few discrepancies in the plot line. and some of the songs could have been cut. The climax is effective though it could have been better.
