Gigot- Gleason Takes TV "Shtik" to Paris ***
12 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Jackie Gleason does a wonderful job as the mute janitor Gigot in this interesting tale of another poor sole-like character that Gleason was so good at creating.

Everyone takes advantage of him. In the meantime, he takes in a prostitute and her young daughter and falls in love with the young child.

Gleason's facial expressions as the mute are absolutely memorable. He creates a phenomenal character well worth remembering under the masterful direction of Gene Kelly.

It is only when the crowd of Parisians think that he is dead that they begin to appreciate him. When he turns up alive, are they running after him as they're glad he is living or are they resorting to their never ending harassment once more.

Poignant, and a treasure besides.
