Jonny Quest (1964–1965)
10/10
The first animated adult action cartoon in prime time delivers.
19 September 2010
First there was the Flintstones and then The Jetsons, both comical animated sitcom classics. Then, in 1964, Hanna-Barbera debuted another adult cartoon in prime time on the same network, ABC, called "Jonny Quest", and it was one of the first cartoons to show realistic violence and plenty of action. Although it didn't last long due to its high budget animation, it became a cult classic and enjoyed heavy rotation in syndication to force HB to bring back JQ for a 1980's and 1990's revival with some minor success, not to mention an upcoming live-action feature film in 2012. As for the show, it's among the greatest 1960's cartoons of all time. Great music, animation, and storyline make this a classic.
