A serial killer, Paul Millander(Matt O'Toole), has returned to challenge Grissom and kills certain victims whose birthdays follow a pattern. In descending order(August 17, 1958/August 17, 1957), is how Millander selects his victims and Grissom's birthday follows the psychopath's pattern(August 17, 1956). So it's safe to assume that Grissom must outwit Millander or else wind up in a white bathtub in some empty warehouse with a recording of his voice dictating his suicide to the local authorities. Millander stages each crime scene the same way as his father was murdered when he was a child. Single gun shot wound to the chest. A hair and fingerprint left by the vic. Every body left in a white bathtub. Each murder takes place the anniversary of Millander's father's death. A Clark County judge outside of Las Vegas fits an identical description to Millander and could very well be him! But it gets even more bizarre when Grissom and Catherine visit Paul's mother and discover that there was a daughter, "Pauline". Like many other episodes of CSI, there's a pretty creepy interrogation scene where Grissom shares the room with a killer and you can see the darkness behind the killer's eyes as he talks about his past. Then there's an escape and Grissom's eerie return to Paul's mother's house at the end which concludes the episode(she always keeps a place at the dinner table for Paul just in case he comes home; well, he does). The courtroom scene where Grissom is shocked at the sight of the judge's resemblance to Paul and Your Honor's finding him in contempt(not to mention, the jail visit)for wanting the man arrested are two moments which really highlight this creepy episode.
