Review of True Grit

True Grit (2010)
6/10
something's missing

The Coen Brothers movies are always worth a look. True Grit was anticipated long time ago. It's a remake of John Wayne's famous western hit with the same name from the 60's. I must admit, there was more hype than delivery. Don't get me wrong here, I still enjoyed it. I loved the accents. Style was awesome. But yet I felt there was something missing. It's true, expectations were high, but they weren't sky-high. I guess all the Coen Brothers movies have been that good and I just didn't find it up to that level. My call however.

The cast is okay. Jeff Bridges is a great actor with a nice smokey voice. He is doing a fine job here. Unfortunately, Matt Damon is not for westerns. At least, I found it out to be a little mismatch. But on the other hand, Hailee Steinfeld was powerful. So pretty and so confy. Very likable and stole the show for me.

I don't know, maybe die-hard Coen Brothers' fans find it extremely good. Well, I'm not one of them, so I rate it average with a little plus.
