Karadjordje (1911)
4/10
More like a documentary
28 October 2011
This film reminds me of those history documentaries where they re-enact certain scenes between the narrations. The subtitles are very long, sometimes even two or three in a row, and contain very little direct speech. Instead the subtitles seem to explain the overall events and the historical backgrounds, sometimes with the exact given date, so I was able to follow the film with the Wikipedia article of Karadjordje on the side to fully understand what was going on. At the end, they even show how Karadjordje got honored after his death, e.g. the unveiling of a monument; the film finally takes on a documentary style.

Kind of funny is the very end, where the director and some of the actors actually take bows to the audience.
