more twist and false ending than any other
11 February 2013
The rather low quality print hindered my appreciation of this Spanish borderline giallo. Paul Naschy excels as an ex convict employed by three creepy sisters in a bug house, The killing doesn't start straight away and it seems that Naschy has the run of the ladies and then the killing begins. Varied and fairly bloody but not all on screen. There are rather slow patches or it may have just seemed so when my screen went almost completely brown or green. A most predictable and silly end on a snowy mountain side turns out not to be the end and indeed this film may have more twist and false ending than any other. The denouement is fine but I was beginning to tire by then and didn't really fully appreciate yet another twist. Still, better than usual performance from Naschy and not at all bad all round.
