Never seen a movie which endorses slapstick in all its elements, be it love, humor, marriage or relationships. Yamla Pagla Deewana is a very good entertainer if you keep your logical senses at home! From a critic's eyes, YPD is a poor movie with bad editing, bad direction, fishy music, long plot, huge running time (150 minutes) & a rather chunky screenplay filled with gaudy Punjabism.
The actors have performed well, but the story goes haywire just before the intermission and after that, a comedy of errors is set out. Emotions outplay the climax with a clichéd ending. Farce is used at a very high rate & overall, this movie maybe a one-time watch but not a collector's taste.
BOTTOM LINE: A jolly good entertainer but lacks cinema potential.
Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES
