Aurangzeb (2013)

Tight script, great screenplay! Not your conventional Masala-action movie
22 September 2013
Two of the best Hindi movies I have seen this year have had Rishi Kapoor in them, and one of them is Aurangzeb. A tight script accompanied with some very good screenplay will keep you interested till the end. Its not your conventional action Masala movie, and a lot is left unsaid for the viewers to think about. The performances of the actors is very good. Prithiviraj's performance is great as usual. Rishi Kapoor portrays a myriad of emotions effortlessly, and Arjun Kapoor portrays a serious character very well. Swara Bhaskara, Amrita, Jackie Shroff and other actors also fit into their roles very well. The background score is very apt. I think this is one of the first few movies which released its album with four different background instrumentals, all of which are great. I have always wanted Indian cinema to have good-quality distinct background score, and this is one movie that does that. Its unfortunate that the movie didn't become so popular, but perhaps that is because it is not your conventional Masala movie! If you are looking for something intellectually stimulating, go for it!
