Just when you thought it couldn't get better

Well, that escalated quickly. After the excellence of the last two episodes, I thought that the show was going to plateau. As it goes on 24, we elevated to the next level of villain to end the season. Adrian Cross was the man who carried on the torch, but I didn't see as much potential in Cross as there was in Margot. He is certainly menacing, but he didn't have plans to destroy cities with the override devise. That's when possibly the most evil villain in 24's history decided to step in. In 20 minutes of screen time, Cheng Zhi has made the moves to start World War III.... and there are only two episodes left to see the outcome of this.

I love how Jack seems so self-aware of how much of a beast he is in this season. One of my absolute favorite moments of this episode is when Jack told Navarro that when he was screaming at him that "This is me asking nicely." Jack has never been very quotable in the past 8 seasons, but I think that the are finally writing Jack excellent dialogue.

Mark has reached new lows in surrendering Jack in the middle of a job, and I cannot wait for Audrey to find out the true extent to which her husband is a scumbag. I also can't wait for when she finds out that Cheng Zhi is back in town and with a vengeance.

All in all, this episode was truly excellent. I love how this season keeps on stepping it up episode after episode. There seems to be no stopping 24: Live Another Day. There is a lot the writers need to do in these two episodes remaining in the best season since Season 5, but they haven't disappointed yet.
