Fantastic Look at the Good of the American Idea!
5 July 2014
I have read so many negative reviews on this film (many of them pure nonsense) that I just don't understand. Is this the best documentary film ever? Hardly. It is, however, a moving testament to the greatness of the American Idea and a thought-provoking counter response to the drivel being constantly spewed by social leftists and the liberal media and academia in this country that we should be ashamed of all the "atrocities" our nation has been guilty of. While it does point out that there have been dark periods in our history, it also uses scenario after scenario to demonstrate how much positive change America (and the American ideal) has instigated the world. It points out that we are not alone in the less-than-illustrious chapters in our history, much of the world was on the same page back then. However, it is also our principles of justice and liberty which played a pivotal role in changing our nation - and indeed, the world - for the better. Perhaps overly-sentimentalized at moments, and feeling a little bit disjointed at others, this film is nonetheless a remarkable gem of patriotism and counterpoint to the liberal revisionist history being disseminated through our schools and media. A great film for Independence Day - or any other day for those that wish to be reminded of America's greatness - and how great we may be again!
