NCIS: New Orleans (2014–2021)

"When Pigs Fly"
27 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
My 'valued friend and confidant', Mr. Orgeron of Schriever, Lousiana sent me a message inquiring if I had seen this show yet....and it contained a subtle 'spoiler', i.e. "beignets and lemonade".....Mr. Orgeron's actions could be construed as making him a "spoiler", but, 'au contraire', he was in essence trying to spare me the 'tsuris', the grief he compassionately knew I would experience when 'enduring' this series debut...Using the 'Primetime on demand' feature of my bright house cable service, clicking on CBS, I voluntarily entered the 'house of pain'.....EGGS CREOLE, WITH ANDOUILLE AND REMOULADE SAUCE FOR BREAKFAST ?......New Orleans street gangs named DELTA CREW AND 113 ?......And the father of the homicide victim is a 'highly-esteemed' local Trumpet 'maestro' who wears suspenders, expensive suit, with tie (oh Wynton, where for art thou !) and WHO steps into the role but network televisions's most dependable 'small screen Sidney Poitier', the most dependable African-American thespian of the TV sweeps phenomenon....JAMES MC DANIEL......Steven Weber as a N.O. Councilman named HAMILTON ? Not exactly a potent political name for a "Crescent City" wheeler dealer....and the plot line, smuggling ! In New Orleans ? Now we're really stretching the imagination of the viewing audience....Scott Bakula tries hard to do a 'journeyman's job' in his role of Pride (but, me thinks, maybe tries too hard...his accent/dialectical phrases, like his 'dependable junior member' Lucas Black, remind one of the quagmire Dennis Quaid brought to "The Big Easy" when he played 'Remy' with an amalgamation of Texas, New Orleans and Bayou inflections).....I do like Lucas Black's work (he's been a pro since childhood)...Zoe Mc Lellan as the other 'junior member' is competent, "eye candy"....and the 'always brilliant' CCH POUNDER is competent, but wasted in the TAMARA TUNIE (i.e. "Law & Order: SVU" franchise) part of medical examiner....watching the credits, the second production company is "When Pigs Fly" ....pretty ominous to me....if they do anything to remedy this well-intentioned attempt, keep MARK HARMON and DONALD P. BELLASARIO 'the hell away from this series' and bring in DICK WOLFE.....cheers, ya'll
