Review of Good Cheer

Good Cheer (1926)
7/10
Good Cheer was a warm and occasionally funny Our Gang short
29 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This Hal Roach comedy short, Good Cheer, is the forty-sixth in the "Our Gang/Little Rascals" series. The gang seem to enjoy the Christmas holiday as they watch Santa Claus in the window display showcasing the various toys in the store...until after the curtain closes and it then falls as it's revealed that "Santa" was actually someone they knew. Only Mickey and Johnny want to still believe and make things right so they disguise as a Santa and go down chimneys and bring toys to their friends. Unfortunately, there are some other Santas with bad intentions but fortunately, there's also a nice spirit one who encourages Mickey and Johnny...This one has a bit more sentiment as one would expect from an Our Gang short but there's also some good gags to offset that like Mickey and Johnny doing a good deed and washing a car...only to inadvertently cover it with lots more icicles! And then they end up selling some hot bricks which provides a funny scene of various people and pets walking with them on feet! So on that note, I highly recommend Good Cheer.
