The twist of not being a twist
9 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Great acting by Shailene Woodley (as usual) and Eva Green in a story simple and straightforward. Woodley is more daring that what we are used to, and that's refreshing as reinforces her character as a 80's emo-rebel girl with family issues. The most interesting about this story is the twist or not being really a twist. It is suggested so clearly that the father killed the mother, that you think "this can't be true, it would be too obvious" and at the end it is true and it is informed to the viewer in a very sudden way in the last 2 minutes of the film. Didn't find it challenging. The real twist I suppose was the relationship between the father and the boyfriend, but it was not shocking or interesting enough. In summary, nice movie, worth seeing especially if you are a Shailene Woodley fan, but wait for it being showed in cable.
