You've got to admire, that they tried to take a step forward (maybe even two steps?). I wouldn't say it worked entirely, but it's nice to see them try to evolve from the usual thing they do (just to get back to it with the next one of course, but still). The dance routines are different and won't be everyones cup of tea. Especially because of the music involved (though the first one on the streets is really something to be watched and enjoy).
And then there is a "message" in there too. The ending might be too smooth for my liking, but you knew this was coming. Can't comment on the 3D effects of the movie, because I watched it in 2D, but the routines looked good.
