Far from perfect film, but this is a well-written script. Basic storyline, but the details just seemed spot-on, for the most part. Some scenes were a bit too predictable and cliché', and i hate using the term 'cliche' in a review because i hate it when others do, but scenes like the dancing scene, preceded by the pop-alt music in a living room pup tent AND coincidentally while the writing took it's only 10 minute straight bath, and it just happenz to be dropped right smack-dab in the middle of this good not great rom-com. There are a few other not-so perfect moments, but for 80% of the film its riding a large wave of good, very subject aware, dialog.
While not as good as "the spectacular now"(granted totally different type of movie/8/10), and certainly no "Whiplash"(again/10/10), but it is most certainly better than your usual rom-coms, it has some really bright moments, and the film finishes rather strong.
The acting is good enough, the script certainly strong enough, and the characters likable and compatible enough to satisfy most any craving for those that know what they're getting into and are willing to take the 'plunge'.
Likable, possibly even rewatchable.. After a couple years anyway, but i certainly wont b 'acquiring it'.
