Review of Pompeii

Pompeii (I) (2014)
9/10
Not your "Average Joe disaster film"
22 July 2015
Pompeii is probably the best disaster movie I've ever seen. And that's because it's not purely clusterfuck of death and because all the deaths of main characters made sense. There is more to this movie than an exploding volcano, and actually the first two-thirds of this movie are about character development and action. And I liked that most. I was a little afraid when it got towards the end, assuming it'd turn "average Joe disaster film" but it didn't disappoint. It's emotional and is a journey. It has Kiefer Sutherland (he's a bad guy in this movie, who acts and sounds like Lord Farquad, I think this was done on purpose), but besides that you probably won't know anybody in the cast. The acting is good and the characters are believable. The atmosphere is nothing short of wicked and I actually felt a little panicked towards the end. The end didn't make me cry, but I wouldn't be surprised if somebody didn't.

It has one of the best musical scores I've ever heard and the special effects towards the end are spectacular.

Pompeii gets a 9.5/10. Some parts are a little funny, it hits the nail on the head accuracy wise for the most part, it's enjoyable, and completely underrated imho. I bet contemporary audiences watched this and were like 30 minutes in "Where's the death? 3/10"

Edit to original review: I might've seen a different movie. Lol.
