The title tells the truth.

Warning: Spoilers
If you are looking for the funny Woody Allen this isn't for you. If you are looking for the emotionally tortured Woody Allen characters step right up. There is an element of mystery in the style of Alfred Hitchcock where you know who did it, the similarities end there.

If Hitchcock made the movie Emma Stone would have been blonde. She does give a very good performance as does Joaquin Phoenix in the role of Abe Lucas which he is called too often. If Hitchcock made it using the same fun twist ending it might have been accomplished in a half hour.

There is an abundance of dialogue and plenty of walking and talking scenes. It's a small movie that looks good on the wide screen. A rare aspect ratio for an Allen movie. Don't look for this to make the ten best list for the year or the Allen career.
