This film bears many similarities to South Riding. Jack Darling is an assistant to the borough surveyor.He writes a damming report on a Jerry built council report.However it is suppressed.His mother,Jill Edmonds reads the report,goes to a council meeting and accuses the council of bribery and corruption.The council put pressure on her to retract or face court action.At first she agrees but bolstered by the support of the editor of the local paper and local people she refuses to give in. Matters are brought to a head by an outbreak of typhoid caused by bad drains.The culprits are then forced too resign. This is a feature from the ACT union.Trouble is that this is the type of story that audiences could see on television.
