Good Fights & Car Stunts Help New Guy
4 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I saw "The Transporter Refueled", starring Ed Skrein-Sword of Vengeance, Game of Thrones_tv; Ray Stevenson-Volstagg in the Thor movies, Frank Castle in Punisher:War Zone; Loan Chabanol-Third Person, Fading Gigolo and Radivoje Bukvic-A Good Day to Die Hard, Taken.

This is a reboot, or if you are counting, the fourth in the Transporter series of movies about Frank Martin, an ex special ops soldier that transports anything for anyone, as long as they adhere to his strict set of rules-no names exchanged and being punctual are biggies on that list. Luc Besson created the original movie but only has a writing credit here. Camille Delamarre directs this one and this is only his second movie to direct-Brick Mansions was his first-although he was an editor on Taken 2, Columbiana and Transporter 3. I heard that Jason Statham declined to play Frank again-too bad-so the new Frank is played by Ed. Ed does a good job, considering he is not as well known as Jason but remember, Jason was not too well known either, at one time. Ray plays Ed's father, an ex spy that picks the wrong time to visit his son-he keeps getting kidnapped a lot and used against Ed to make Ed do things. Loan is the latest client to hire Ed for a job which consists of robbing a bank and making a clean getaway. One of the victimized bank depositors is Radivoje, a Russian prostitution kingpin that has a past connection to Loan. There are lots of good fight scenes-Krav Maga & Filipino martial arts are Ed's specialty-and lots of good car chases/stunts. It's rated "PG-13" for violence, language and some sexual content-no nudity-and has a running time of 1 hour & 35 minutes. I enjoyed it enough to buy it on DVD.
