8/10
Excellent by let down by a few minor issues

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this show on demand, which gives a different experience to watching it once per week. For this particular show, I think binge watching like this was better.I enjoyed the show a lot - the acting was good and the story had a lot of twists and turns which kept you on your toes and stopped it being clichéd or predictable. Even though e are told the ending (sort of) right at the start, even in the last episode you couldn't guess how they would end up there and who exactly would survive.

My favourite things about this show were 1. It was just the right length. Some shows have 24 episodes which could fit into 10, resulting in lots of filler. This was not the case here, it never felt slow or unnecessary. 2. The way the relationships and links between the characters grew over the course of the show. 3. The fact that this showed us the effect on people in various parts of the world and different walks of life. Most apocalyptic shows usually focus on America and forget about everyone else! 4 the acting, especially of the main character. It must be difficult to act two completely different characters and make them both convincing.

Unfortunately a few small details let the show down, which is why I only gave 8 stars. 1. The "miracle" that happened in the final episode and Frankie hearing voices. These were just a bit too supernatural for me. 2. The relationship between Dave and Paula felt a bit forced, either done for comic effect or as a way of shoehorning Dave into the "family" 3. I find it slightly unbelievable that Ariel could impersonate Jamie so well that even his best friend and his mum were totally convinced. Given that they hadn't actually met until a few weeks ago, although Ariel had been following him and tracking his online presence etc, it just seems unlikely... especially given that it happened twice!

Finally, the ending. I've yet to decide whether I loved it or hated it. There are a lot of open questions at the end that I would like answers to, but I have a feeling there won't be a second season, so these questions will remain unanswered!
