Review of Cop Story

Louie: Cop Story (2015)
Season 5, Episode 3
10/10
Astounding TV

I really don't know what else to say about this episode of Louie other than the fact that it's one of the greatest episodes of TV I've ever seen in my life. All the usual Louie elements are there - incredible writing, beautiful photography, wonderful direction and a fantastic performance from C.K. himself - but in addition to that you have a virtuoso acting performance from Michael Rapaport who plays an annoying, imposing but emotionally blighted NYPD cop who used to date Louie's sister and who now wants to be his friend, much to the dismay of Louie. The characterization of the cop is beautifully observed in both Louie's writing and Rapaport's performance. He's a thoroughly believable character who leaps out of the screen at you. I'm constantly amazed by the acting performances in this show and this is no exception. Classic TV.
