The Emperor (1967)
4/10
Superior to most other early Lucas work

Warning: Spoilers
"The Emperor" is a 25-minute black-and-white documentary short film written and directed by "Star Wars" legend George Lucas almost 50 years ago. So yeah, as you can do the math with his age right now, he was still very young back then, but still at the most prolific phase of his life as he rushed one short film after the other at that era. Maybe it was all a bit too much as he hardly hasn't made any films in the last almost 40 years. Many of Lucas' very early works were pretty bad and uninteresting really, but this one is a bit of an exception. It is not a good film by any means, but clearly superior than most of the other garbage he's done back then and this one here even tells a good story. Makes me a bit sad that he has not done more documentary work in his career. He seems to have a decent touch for it. Anyway, it's good for a man in his 20s, but that alone does not let me recommend it. Only the music was really convincing, but this one was not Lucas' effort. Love Jefferson Airplane. All in all, thumbs down.
