Review of Pure Genius

Pure Genius (2016–2017)
7/10
Hokey but uplifting.

Is it a perfect show? No! It has certainly got a few areas that need tweaking, but it has charm even so!!! Is the acting sketchy at times? Yes! In particular the actor playing the character of James can be incredibly annoying. He needs to work on nuances in his facial expressions instead of always relying on the pursed lips and furrowed brow approach. Are the story lines a bit one dimensional? Oh yeah!!! Whoever is writing this does need to get out into the real world for a bit as many of the character archetypes or story plots are limited in the extreme. Is much of the science possible as yet? Probably not!!!! But that's okay because most of us would like to think this will all be possible one day. This show has its flaws and yet I really really like it? Yep! Really!! It has huge potential and it is so nice to see hope, kindness and compassion as a theme instead of brutality, cruelty, bad behavior or hopelessness. In spite of its flaws, I find myself smiling and feeling happy while watching this show and I believe it should be given a chance to find it niche. I for one want Pure Genius to succeed and believe there is a place for shows with hope and heart.
