Re-Review: My Favorite PBS Show
23 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show! It had plot, good acting, and character development. The voice acting is wonderful. This show doesn't have the typical cartoon voice cast. It has some Canadian voice actors like Ashleigh Ball and Brian Drummond, but it also has some child VAs. But somehow, they are all very good at voice acting and the voices are pleasant to listen to. As for the animation, it is absolutely gorgeous. Yeah, early on it looks like utter garbage, but by the second half of season 1, it starts to improve in quality. My favorite scene has to be the Milky Way song from "A Visit to the Planetarium", the animation is absolutely beautiful.

The characters are well-written and are all entertaining and relatable. Jet's the spontaneous newcomer who adores Earth, is nice to everyone, and acts before he thinks. Sean is the fearful science nerd who likes to use the Scientific Method. Sydney is an ambitious, creative, and kind comic book fanatic. Mindy is a curious and headstrong young child, and Mitchell is by far my favorite. He has many layers. On the outside, he's prideful, sarcastic, and unkind, but on the inside, he's lonely, as shown in the Christmas episode. Carrot and Celery are goofy but well-meaning parents.

I love this show for its educational value, I should mention. It doesn't focus on gimmicks or selling cheap toys, but instead of instilling a sense of wonder of space and care for Planet Earth in every episode. Amy Mainzer is a delightful host. The music is catchy, the jokes are hilarious, and all in all, RJG is an absolute treat.
