Even if the characters are too aesthetically feminine (long eyelashes, very smooth faces and facial gestures). even when the clichés are a bit too overwhelming (more so if you have watched Lupin III's character/persona mixed with a 'Vision of Escaflowne' kind of World, the show gradually seduces you through sheer visual ecstasy, tear jerking reunions and heart-warming individuals with a common goal, or it's opposite.
